Do we want to be a nine seed though?

The thought of Arizona, Kansas, or Gonzaga if we win a game does not thrill me. UK is a good draw though.

Baylor, Duke, or Auburn? Much better.

Dream scenario? Win as an 11 and get Providence

8/9 seed is far worse than a 10-12 in terms of advancing farther than round of 32.

my uneducated self says 9 is our best seed we can get and 12 being worst. I think we would be punished for winning the bigten tourney with a 9 seed and face Gonzaga in the 2nd round

If I had the choice between losing today and getting an 11/non-play-in 12 or winning the BTT and being a 9, I’d take the L today and be ready to win 2 or 3 games starting next week. We could mess around and be 2021 UCLA or Oregon State (but please God don’t be 2022 Oregon State).

For me?

There’s about 10 teams that I’d like to avoid.

And the way we’ve been defending, I’d give us a viable chance against any team. Especially if Geronimo is available.

Win the Big 10 tournament is priority #1 right now.  If that moves IU to the 9 seed so be it.  I don't think we get above the 10 line though because like a couple mentioned, the committee will already have the Big10 champ teams locked in before the outcome of the game.

From what I understand the seeding is likely set for us bf the championship game if we get there, and 10 seems the highest— i think we’re 11 or 12 now, def good with an 11

Really hope Geronimo is ok and good to go at least by tourney time — both bc of how much he helps us defensively, and for him — it’s the ncaa tourney and we haven’t been here in years, kid has earned it

They're not supposed to.  Doesn't mean they don't though.

Washington won the regular  season pac 12 title title in 2012 and got left out while teams that finished behind them for at-large bids.   Rutgers finished 4th this year but teams that finished behind them are in better shape.  Every interview committee chair does he emphasizes that each team is viewed on their own and conference affiliation doesn’t matter.    Conference records are not on the team sheets.   Could some committee members take conference record into consideration? Maybe but they do their best during each interview to down play it

IU moved up to 38 in the NET

What does this mean historically?  Do NET 38 teams regularly make the tourney?  Around what seed?

Here is a link to Bart Torvik’s site. Has a similar resume tool to compare IU’s current resume to past teams with similar metrics. Let’s just say it looks good for our hoosiers
