Class of '66 Old Fart Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 Seen speculation that NCAA seeding process could change to more geographically place teams to reduce travel distances. Delphi Bracketology has made such an attempt and have us as a 9 playing in the Midwest. https://delphibracketology.com/what-if-bracket-was-seeded-by-location-due-to-current-concerns/#page-content NOTE: All this bracketology stuff is over my head and I'm only posting it as a FWIW. theriverpilot, HoosierAloha, woodenshoemanHoosierfan and 1 other 4 Quote
HoosierDYT Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 Let's say the NCAA suspends March Madness as opposed to cancelling it. Is there any precedence or does anyone have any suggestions on how that would work out? There's a lot of conflicting information on the internet, but my personal and uneducated opinion is that the virus will reach its height in two or three weeks and everything will slowly go back to normal. JerryYeagley23 Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 So, assuming (big assumption) they have a Big Dance, Stanford’s bubble burst today and Xavier’s is close to bursting down 3 late to DePaul. I think we always were, but now we have to be safely in, and not even in consideration for the play-in game in my opinion. Quote

Uspshoosier Posted March 12, 2020 Author Posted March 12, 2020 Like all of you I expect the NCAA tournament to be canceled at any time. darB s'tI Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 I'm sure this has been posted elsewhere, but how about our final ranking in KenPom?!?! Yet another sizable leap for the program and for our defense. It's real, measured progress, folks. 34th overall, 65th on offense, 26th on defense. 2019 was 52/82/32. 2018 was 71/92/65. We call that a 3 year improve/improve/improve. Just projecting here, but 2021....20/52/20. thebigweave, MoyeNeeded, jk34 and 3 others 6 Quote
JerryYeagley23 Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 @Uspshoosier do you have any knowledge of whether the selection committee is continuing to meet, or if the talk that they may still proceed with revealing the brackets on Sunday has any legs at all? Quote

Popular Post Uspshoosier Posted March 15, 2020 Author Popular Post Posted March 15, 2020 IU was projected by many outlets at the beginning of the year to not be an NCAA tournament team. They were picked to finish in the bottom of the league(which they did) and with the loss of their 2 best players from last year many nationally and on here were not predicting a team that would earn an ncaa tournament bid. Always interesting to see how the final numbers always work out. many predicted 19 or 20 wins but thought that would be NIT worthy. 2020 Ncaa tournament will always be remembered as the What If tournament. Here are a look at IU's final resume. 20-12 NET-56 Q1A-(2-8) wins-(7,10) losses-(@16,@18,@23,@24,@30,@32,@35,@39), 8 of IU's 10 road opportunities were played at Top 39 teams. Lol that is a crazy stat. For a team projected as a lower seed in the tournament that is tough sledding for a team compared to other projected lower teams that get to pad their road record stats by winning games against Q3 teams. Many state the fact that high major have an advantage over mid majors because of Q1 opportunities but this would be an example of a disadvantage for one of those high major teams playing in a stacked conference. If iu was always going to be a lower seed then it seems many wanted to punish them for not winning road games against teams that they had projected higher then them in the first place. Should IU of won or been more competitive in some of those games? Probably but this is the hand that was dealt to IU. Iu was only favored in 1 road game all year. they ended up with 2 road wins Q1B-(2-4) wins-(16,@42) losses-(18,23) 2 losses at home in the Q1B category were both very winnable games Q2A- 5-2 wins-(34,35,42,N-52,N-60) losses-(32,43) This is where IU earned their at-large bid this year compared to last year. despite a historic losing streak last year IU still could of made the tournament if they could of won a couple more of their Q2 home games last year. They had a losing record in Q2 games last year and this year they went 5-2. When the Iowa and Penn St game fell to Q2 I know many were flipping out about it but that was never going to hurt IU's chances. The losses in this category sting more because it was a loss to Purdue and a loss in the non conference and if iu would of won that game they would of been perfect in the non conference. The only game loss this year that IU wasn't in the game at the end was the Purdue game. every other home game IU had an opportunity to win. If iu takes the next step they have to find a way to protect home court better. they were not horrible by any stretch but they have to win those games moving forward. IU's 12 losses came to the top 43 NET teams that were either projected in the tournament as a 7 seed or better or they lost 2 teams that were in consideration all year for an at-large bid. That is progress. Maybe IU isn't where it should be or where some want them to be but iu just had a season where they only loss to top 43 teams. The way they lost some of the losses and losing to Purdue twice magnify these losses. Not a lot of teams can say they went through a year with 0 losses outside the top 43. Q3-4-0 wins-87,126,199,199-N 2 wins against teams that finished in the top 3 of their league. Q4-7-0 wins-(164,166,179,199,274,298,334) only 3 games against teams lower then +200 teams SOS-57 Non con SOS-69 remember back at the Florida St game everyone trashing the Non con Sos and some on here said it would prevent iu from making the tournament with that "garbage"non con SOS. It ended up 69th best on the team sheets and even better if you use Ken Pom SOS numbers. It was always going to work itself out. Major props to the staff for recognizing what the committee valued last year and for preparing for the B1G to be a gauntlet. Iu' staff gave their team a chance during the Non con. Minny on the other hand cost them a chance with their scheduling. 3 of their first 4 games were on the road or at neutral courts. People were still arguing with me on Twitter last week about how weak IU's SOS was. A Purdue fan pointed out the Non con SOS and how Purdue should of been considered before IU because of the Non Con SOS. I happily pointed out Purdue's ended up being worst on the Team Sheets. lol KPI-51 SOR-30 BPI-39 POM-34 SAG-34 Many said that IU needed to make the tournament in year 3 and they didn't really care how they did it as long as they made it. 2020 the what if tournament has taken that away from the coaches, Players and fans. That doesn't mean that this team didn't earn a bid. As fans people should be proud of what this team accomplished in year 3. From Dec 3rd on this team was a projected tournament team and that never changed throughout the season. For a team that lost its 2 best players and for a team that started out as a projected non tournament team with low expectations they had nice season that the returning players and coaches can build on.
