Franklin has been swishing it to be fair. Last I checked he was shooting 40 percent from 3. Haven't seen numbers for Newman

For sure. I said it was an interesting discussion to have. Personally I would take Franklin During the summer watching them both I would of taken Newman because of his elite shooting ability. However shooting can be worked on if people are willing to put the time in. Watching Franklin during the high school season he has definitely done that. Newman is still the better shooter however Franklin has closed the gap. Franklin in my opinion is better defensively and is a better passer and ball handler

The odd thing about Fitzner is that he was 4-4 from the three against Marquette and 3-3 against Duke (ie he was perfect against 2 of our toughest opponents and against guys that you would think are athletic enough to close out on him quickly). Since Duke he has gone 2-10 from the three in 8 games and has gone from having a smooth stroke to rushing his shot to the point where he is almost just chucking it up.  I did not expect him to light the world on fire but that regression/inconsistency is a bit surprising for a 23 year old senior.

It could be a difference maker in some upcoming games if he could get his stroke back.

It's more than his stroke.  He's 6'10" which means he lacks perimeter quickness, so he's an easier cover than a guard who can lift or drift with more precision than Fitzner can.  Fitzner needs just that extra beat to get his shot off, and he's inconsistent - as most are - when contested, so he's easier to take away from out there.   I liked his one interior bucket the other night against Illinois.   I'd like to see more of him in the paint if he can get that to drop.

You just said you agreed completely, so the better part of an hour has been your arguing for the sake of it.  You took the entire context of the original discussion, changed it to benefit your own point, then said you agreed with the original one.   Whatever...

Your last 4 paragraphs have zero meaning because they have zero to do with the original context which you've ignored for the sake of the argument.  How many of the players you name are catch and shoot guys?  Guys who can legitimately space the floor and cause other teams to game plan for their ability to shoot?   Regardless of how good your defense is (Michigan's is fantastic), you've got to score against teams that know you if you're going to succeed, and to do that, you generally need guys who can shoot it consistently from deep.  That's our missing piece now.  Which was the context of the original discussion.  And you said you agreed.  So why are you arguing?  For the sake of it?   Original question I asked you seems appropriate.

It started when you said that Archie didn't recruit a player who is a great shooter to use shooter which is just silly.  If you mistook a discussion about Jerome as a discussion about the present ability of this team to shoot that would seem to be an oversight on your part.

You said Hunter wasn't a shooter. You also said that a PG can't be the answer for shooting.  Which is so wrong it's laughable in today's basketball

Looks like Steph Curry isn't a shooter by his logic, lol.

I clearly remember that Minnesota game. He saved us there. On this year's roster, we don't have that one guy who can just go out and knock down shots -- a Zeisloft or a Roth. Those guys weren't the greatest athletes -- but man, they could shoot. I wonder if Archie thought Fitzner could be that guy? He was -- for one game, anyway.

It’s what he was a st Mary’s.  I Gotta wonder if his inability to get the defensive side of affecting his confidence and therefore his shot.

Should have said "landing" rather than "recruiting," but he's got a bench full of long athletes.  He needs shooters to space the floor for them to be as effective as they can be.

He did land Anderson to fill the role of a shooter. Problem is looks like a freshman Anderson isn’t ready to fill that role. Anderson was one of the best shooters on the EYBL circuit percentage wise. Purdue wasn’t the only B1G school that wanted Anderson for his shooting ability. Beilein offered and wanted him. Beilein is one of the best today at filling the court with shooters to space the floor. Safe to say he wasn’t recruiting him for his defense. Lol Hopefully Anderson can fill that role in the future and put in the work and become a + defender. Rapheal Davis was a terrible defender in high school but like Anderson has the tools to be a good defender. By his senior year he was the B1G defensive player of the year

Rewatching game at Half
IU had 5 TO and Michigan had 2 TO
Normally you can live with 5 at half the problem was Michigan scored 11 points off of those TO

Yeah to be fair as frustrating as that first 7 minutes was that road effort beats probably Northwestern and Purdue maybe Maryland. Hope we can bring it again. The ball security was great.

DeRon has been slow all year anyway.
Over/Under on Green turnovers is  3.5
Over/Under on Green bad shots is 5.5
Over/Under on Green possessions given away is therefore  9.
Takers?

0 TOs, 4-9 from the field. Looks like he crushed the under. Played a solid game where he didn’t try to do too much.

I'm not sure if it beats those teams but we'd be in it until the end.

Maryland can get extremely frustrated when they're not scoring. I could see where IU could lock them down for a bit and end up getting easy buckets on offense because of it. My only worry is JMo picking up two quick fouls because Big Ten.

pu would really depend on if they're hitting from deep. I don't think they can hit enough twos to beat IU with an effort like that.

Pardon is the only real threat I fear from Northwestern. I think we beat them again at their place.

If we beat Northwestern I will be happy with this stretch as long as we beat the Huskers.
