I totally agree, but I think at times it hinders the offense. Archie doesn't really have a choice on the matter, and luckily he is a solid contributor on defense. Hopefully he can get health and understand his role in time to contribute by the end of the season.

Agreed. But it’s also I think why if we were healthy he would see a lot less time. Green can be a defensive spark off the bench b

I’d personally take Romeo, Juwan, or even Al. It’s about more than just ball handing and I think Green has some of the worst decision making on the team

Respect your opinion and yes it has more to do than just ball handling but if the other team is putting pressure on the ball handler that part is important... Romeo leads the team in turnovers, Morgan is good with the ball for what he does but I wouldn't want him bringing the ball up the court against pressure, and Al seems to have some bad decision making along with poor ball handling...

Rob has better decision making from what I have seen, however I have also seen him struggle dribbling against pressure.

It is a good thing most teams don't have the endurance to press/pressure all game long.

Anyone know why we aren't designing any plays for Fizner? Dude can shoot and that is a rarity on this team. Seems like Archie and Co. have completely phased him out for the most part. Also, Juwan should be touching the ball most times down the court. The offense works so much better when it goes through him.

Romeo really struggled the few times he brought it up under pressure. Barely avoided turnovers 2-3 times in a row.

Because some people only post negative comments. Unless those people truly feel others only want to hear their negative insight. But in real life do you like talking to people that are only negative?

You're not the only one who notices this.

Oddly, when we got down double digits early in the first half I didn't get nervous at all. I expected us to come back. Blowouts are easier on the nerves, but a win's a win. 12-2 and 3-0 in the conference. On to Michigan!
I was keeping book for a couple HS games last night. My phone blew up with calls and messages about the time the game ended. I didn't open any of them because play was happening, but I thought to myself, damn we blew it. So as I was watching the game afterward and saw we were down 10, I thought for sure we lost.

Wow. Where do I even start. I love IU basketball, but I should ignore the game threads because some of you just want to spout non-stop negativity, great community building.
Exactly. There are some that only seem to post when something negative happens, but rarely if not ever post when something negative happens.

Ok so not sure it was obvious on TV but Illinois coach brings a high chair to sit in during games. Any idea why?IMG_0224.thumb.jpg.b20e10094aa038f03cfada9972906706.jpg

Bad back or other health issues, is my guess. I have a high director type chair similar to that I carry everywhere, because of my health issues.

I feel like a not in my backyard old timer, but it seems like this board had more intelligent discussion before a large portion of newer posters came in with constant complaining. I was an optimist and guys like schoosier were hard out on Crean from early only and we butted heads often, but there was in depth debate and discussion when those sides disagreed.

Now I feel like I come on here and just have to scroll through 4 pages of one sentence garbage repeating the same complaint.

Feel the same way. I love that some people hate on the Stephen A. Smith’s, Skip Bayless’, etc. of the sports talk community and then come on here posting in the same “hot take” style. Also, the people who only post negative comments or appear out of thin air when a team is playing bad or takes a loss. Game threads are fun to read after the game to watch people’s “glass house of emotions” but are terrible to follow during the game.

Back in the day it was mostly trying to calm Chuck down. Now it seems 4 of 5 comments are about the team playing terrible. I’ll probably only check in the game threads after games for the rest of the season.

I believe once a community gets so big you’ll have a vocal minority trying to “out hot take” each other until it ends up being what current game threads have become. Too bad a good thing never lasts.

Fitzner's problem is he's too slow. If we designed a play for him, it'd probably look something like setting up a double screen action. If he's too slow on defense, he's definitely too slow to lose his guy on the designed play. His best chance is finding a spot on the floor and waiting for a drive/kick opportunity. But you can't have more than one guy doing that or the offense gets stagnant very quickly.

Yeah and I hate that it bothers me like it does. But game threads used to be a bunch of dudes enjoying the game together. Not possible anymore. Maybe I am too much of a homer to handle that much negativity on something I care about that much. I just don’t get what is enjoyable about some that only post negatives. There isn’t anything that is all rainbow or sunshine, but nothing is this negative either. Someone overly happy would annoy me equally. Because it’s fake and nobody wants to hear all positives the same.

It felt more like sitting at a bar watching the game with friends and fans. I knew there would be complaints about bad plays from posters but those same posters would also recognize and post about good sets or a defensive stop. There are several posters now who will post how terrible a play is by player X then completely ignore the fact that he turned around and made an incredible play to make up for it.

People will take a stance on a player; (example) Green is a terrible ball handler and decision maker. Green goes down the court and makes an incredible pass for a Smith dunk. Crickets. Green makes a boneheaded play where he turns it over or takes a terrible shot and there are immediately 10 posts calling him out with a “told you so” tone. It gets to be laughable.
