WayneFleekHoosier Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Imagine the stats are correct. But unless they’re playing 14 minute quarters the minutes are wrong. That’s what I figured. I’m ready for one of our recruits to dominate an offseason. It feels like it’s been forever since we’ve had one be dominant. Romeo had his moments. The big Zion game. PS-I’m not hating on Banks here. I like his game and potential a lot. Just love seeing our guys dominate. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app 8bucks 1 Quote

AAU games are much, much better. Pretty much every game is dominated by 2 guards who decide they’re just not gonna give it up. So they either score 30 or they shoot 2-20. But the practices are the thing. The instructors will dictate specific matchups during the drills and those are way more interesting to watch. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Couple of observations from today's NBAP Top 60 Camp. HoopSeen - The team of Stephon Castle Jett Howard, Vincent Iwuchukwu, and Adem Bona have won the 3x3 competition. Trent Markwith - I don’t think there’d be much of an argument to the claim that Adem Bona is the most athletic big man at NBPA Top 100. He’s been punishing the rims every chance he gets while also being extremely vocal and showing defensive versatility. HoosierAloha 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Stats for the 4 games played at the Top 60 Camp. I included Bona and Collier simply because we did watch them during the month of July. Neither has an IU offer. Kaleb Banks had an outstanding 2nd game this afternoon. Malik Reneau played well in both of today's games. W/L Pts. FGM FGA 3PM 3PA FTM FTA Reb Assts. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 A little trivia. If you don't think Montverde Academy is a tough place to get playing time it had a total of 7 kids drafted and 4 of them were in the first round: Cade Cunningham - #1, Scottie Barnes - #4, Moses Moody - #14, and Day’Ron Sharpe #29! Currently we have offers out to 3 Montverde kids: Jalen Hood-Schifino, Vincent Iwuchukwu and Malik Reneau. WayneFleekHoosier and HoosierHoops1 2 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Final stats from the Top 60 Camp. Today was a tournment format with the top 4 teams squaring off. The Hawks team that included Banks, Iwuchukwu, Reneau and Bona were the overall winners of the event. As I mentioned above, neither Bona nor Isaiah Collier have an IU offer. We watched Collier in several games this past month but his performance in this event certainly wasn't eye popping. Both Noah Clowney and Bona were named to the camp's all-star team. Still, that's a lotta cabbage. Apparently 2023 Purdue commit Myles Colvin has been offered $100,000 to go to Overtime Elite. For an unranked recruit that's a lotta cabbage too! Good for him. Let’s face it…. college is not for everyone, there have been plenty of players that had zero business being in college (not saying that is the case with Gortman as I know next to nothing about him) and 650k is nothing to sneeze at. Popular Post Class of '66 Old Fart Posted August 13, 2021 Popular Post Posted August 13, 2021 From Eric Bossi's mailbag in response to the quesion -- Who does Indiana have a shot with? I've been impressed with what Mike Woodson has been in able to do on the recruiting trail since taking over at Indiana. He put together a very well liked staff, navigated the transfer portal, pulled a big time 2021 guy in Tamar Bates and is off to a good start in 2022 with CJ Gunn and Kaleb Banks. Nobody does a better job on the Indiana beat than our friends at Peegs.com so I'd always trust what they have to say first. But, you asked me the question and I would probably go with combo guard Jalen Hood-Schifino, big man Noah Clowney and combo forward Brice Sensabaugh. I personally saw Woodson and his staff devoting a lot of time to Hood-Schifino during July and the Hoosiers have made the top five for one of the country's top two-way guards. Clowney appears to be pretty tight with assistant coach Yasir Rosemond and he's set to visit campus during August. As for Sensabaugh, he really burst onto the scene during June and July and is a really unique player given his 6-foot-6, 240 pound or so frame, explosive athleticism and love for letting jumpers fly from deep. Like Clowney, he's already got an official visit locked in. Indiana is still the type of program where if they make a top five or lock in a visit with a prospect, you have to give them a good chance so that's why those three stand out to me.
