Sota Hoosier Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Ramsey has his issues but I’m comfortable with him leading the offense. He’s made some mistakes but I feel good he can learn and correct those (did not feel that way about Lagow). His arm isn’t as strong but he finds other ways to positively impact the game. Son of a coach and has that QB leadership way about him. More long term, I’m encouraged about he and Scott leading the way the next few years. If Penix proves himself and supplants Ramsey, that’s great too.Very young team right but 2-0 with a solid chance at 3-0. I’m on board.Side note: it’s crazy how good our LBs were the last couple years. It’s no more evident than watching this young defense the first couple games.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners thebigweave and Stuhoo 2 Quote

Again he was ok as was most of the team. His #'s though were certainly misleading. I think he's our version of Alex Smith. He'll do fine and won't make a bunch of mistakes but in the end you aren't going anywhere with him. He just doesn't change the game like someone with a great set of skills whatever they may be. He doesn't have a cannon but he has a serviceable arm that can make throws downfield when the staff opens up the playbook. I'd like to see them open the playbook up a little more with him so we have a better idea; right now it's some saying the playbook is closed because he's so limited and others saying he looks more limited because they don't open the playbook much. I still fall more in the latter camp because we've seen him make good throws downfield both last year and early on this year. Passing is definitely something he still needs to work on and as a RS soph he's not a finished product. And that INT was horrible. Hoosierfan2017 and HoosierAloha 2 Quote

I am not all that sure it would have been a bad decision in a dry game.. rain game maybe, Timian didnt help him at all by not coming back, so yeah I'm making an argument against it. You said the WRs "bailed him out" .... no, they played well in the conditions, Ramsey didnt need bailed out because he didnt do anything wrong. Ramsey simply couldn't launch the ball downfield because of the conditions. It was brutal. Ramsey has been so solid through 2 games. Quote

Passing is definitely something he still needs to work on and as a RS soph he's not a finished product. And that INT was horrible. I'm in the latter camp as well, because like you said we've seen him make good throws downfield before. We've consistently seen conservative playcalling from the staff so I don't think it's because they doubt Ramsey's abilities. That just seems to be their approach. I didn't see the INT last night, but I've seen enough from him to know that poor decision making is rare for Ramsey. He's not Nate Sudfeld, but he's not Zander Diamont either. He's played 10 games so far in his career. He's thrown for 1,558 yards, completed 66.9% of his passes and thrown 15 touchdowns to 7 interceptions. The NFL isn't going to come calling with those numbers, but we don't need that level of quarterback. If Stevie Scott is legit then we just need a quarterback that can keep the defense honest and limit turnovers. He's shown himself capable of doing that. If we miss a bowl game this year I don't think Ramsey will be the reason why. It could very well be the case that Penix is better than Ramsey right now. If he is, play him. But we have a very small sample size for Penix. We've seen a handful of series against a conference USA team that likely didn't game plan for him. Stuhoo 1 Quote
ThompsonHoosier Posted September 9, 2018 Author Posted September 9, 2018 True freshman Micah McFadden too, he was a tackling machine in high school. I think he will be a great linebacker by the time he's done at IU. LBs were better last night than game 1. Thomas Allen is good.Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk Stuhoo and mamasa 2 Quote

Popular Post lucel15 Posted September 9, 2018 Popular Post Posted September 9, 2018 Today all I’ve seen is people ***** and moan about coach Allen running over to the students and high fiving them.....on all platforms of media. If that really bothers you....do you really care about IU football getting better and did you watch last nights game. Despite the awful weather that team fought and finished, yet that’s what you’re judging his coaching on.....high fives.....lol then screw you “football fans”. Tom Allen once again wants to be here. He wants to see this team win and most teams in the past would’ve gone fetal position and found a way to lose that game. Allen cares for his players and he cares about the fans, he doesn’t just care about “football” because that’s what “football guys” do. At IU you actually need a coach that cares for all facets behind the team. Maybe if fans actually showed up in good weather games.....as well....people wouldn’t be calling him a cheerleader.....those fans and students deserved some type of thanks and y’all wanna moan about how he did it....I thought it was awesome and he actually shows he cares. If this was CKW he would’ve gone out afterwards and gotten drunk and cussed fans out. Lol get a clue. Support a man who wants to be here. Knows how to coach defense and most of all cares for fans and his players. VPC, RatpigHoosier, HoosierCoop and 23 others 25 1 Quote
