goonaha Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 IU is listed as a 7 seed in the latest NIT Bracketology. Would love some more basketball this season but seems like the odds of getting bumped as conference tournaments go on are high. http://www.nycbuckets.com/current-nit-bracketology/ Btownclouds, CR3AMnCR1MS0N and Iugradman 3 Quote

LIHoosier Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Going by the below tweet, if most of these smaller tournaments don't go chalk, IU is out. Iugradman 1 Quote

Scooter D Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Went to last year's game at Georgia Tech...would rather be spared the embarrassment. Just let the off season work begin and Archie focus on recruiting. ElectricBoogaloo, Kepner and CR3AMnCR1MS0N 3 Quote
LamarCheeks Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 To me, the NIT is almost a no-win situation. Say we get hot and put together 4-5 good games (or whatever it takes) and win the tourney. Yay, we just won the NIT. So what! ... Or say that we lose our first game -- that only adds to the embarrassment of getting smoked by Rutgers. ... I'd just as soon skip it and start thinking about 2018-19. Just my opinion, though. IUBBFan1970 1 Quote
TheWatShot Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 There's no downside to winning the NIT, or winning multiple games in it. However, we're projected as a 7 seed, and that's assuming we even got in. The chances of hosting a game would be extremely low. I can't see this team winning more than one road game against borderline NCAA tournament teams. Kepner, Ranger78 and WayneFleekHoosier 3 Quote
Bailey7878 Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 We have no shot at the NIT. Why is there even a thread on this?Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk chicagoHOOSIER 1 Quote
Stuhoo Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 When the regular season conference champ doesn’t get the automatic bid, they automatically go to the NIT.FWIW, if Illinois State was to win today, Loyola Chicago would fill one of those NIT automatic spots. And, Loyola is very comfortably stomping ISU in the second half.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners chicagoHOOSIER 1 Quote
TheWatShot Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Florida Gulf Coast, #1 seed in the Atlantic Sun was a no-show today in their tourney final, getting run out of the gym by Lipscomb. That will be another auto bid to the NIT. When you look at how many smaller conference tourneys there are, that's a lot of potential auto bids. That doesn't make this thread meaningless, but our NIT chances are probably about 1% at this point, if that. janaslama and Ranger78 2 Quote

Crimson and Cream Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 I'd prefer this season to be over with tbh. I have little faith that this team can beat a higher ranked team away from the Hall, and I know that I would force myself to watch it regardless and just add to the frustration of that Rutgers loss. Hoosierfan2017 Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 I'd love to have more IU basketball to watch this season, but unfortunately it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Quote
