He looks to be a skinny 6'7" when standing next to Davis. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Iugradman 1 Quote

It looked like he'd come in and be a shot blocking machine while averaging well over 10 ppg. He's just so unathletic. He's NOT unathletic. He has great soft hands, and when he wants to, he can turn on the speed. His vertical is decent, too...when he exerts himself. He lacks moxie, which may have rubbed off on him from some of the rest of the ragamuffins or might be his natural tendency. IUsafety and Stuhoo 2 Quote

His HS play was very similar. He was a better FT shooter in HS, though oddly enough. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Like you said he may be gone next year. He is clearly overrated coming out of high school.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Quote

Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk He should certainly be rebounding better, but rebounding is more about positioning and fast-twitch leaping than pure size. It's why a guy like Dennis Rodman is one of the greatest rebounders ever. He wasn't big or even all that tall, but he played great positioning and he could jump high and then leap again quickly. De'Ron, while big, is slow, doesn't jump high and doesn't jump quickly. Once he's down he has to re-gather to jump again. He's just so limited athletically. AKHoosier and HoosierAloha 2 Quote
Brass Cannon Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Everything about Davis screams to me poor work ethic. When you have the physical tools he has you should not be regressing a little bit each year. HinnyHoosier and MemphisHoosier 2 Quote

coonhounds Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Watford Watford to me wasn't a traditional big guy plus i know some have improved. I was merely joking saying i am not getting my hopes up that a big guy will improve here from freshmen year because i often way over estimate how much better they will get and often they seem to regressSent from my SM-G920V using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

His defense improved tremendously, he was a better leader, shot 48% from 3 and averaged a career high in rebounds. His scoring went down, but that coincides with the continued emergence of Zeller and the emergence of VO. I'm not an advanced metrics guy, but looking at the stats he had the highest win share of his career and highest PER. IUsafety, HoosierAloha and Josh 3 Quote

I remember well the criticisms of Watford for playing far too soft his first few years. By his senior year he was no longer a shooter who had to play the four spot; he turned into a big that could shoot. MikeRoberts 1 Quote
Stuhoo Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 And for what it's worth, there was another true big in the past ten years at IUBB that, between his first and last year, had his per game point production go up 25%, his FG percentage rise, his blocked shots double, his free throw percentage improve, and his turnovers per minute go down. For our BtownBanners brain-trust, any idea who? ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
