I see a lot of talk about our cupboard being somewhat bare this year, and I agree with that... to a point. ALL of these guys, right down to the final walk on sitting on the bench, should be capable of playing a very solid game of fundamental basketball. All of them. Softness indicates laziness, and it doesn’t take a 5 star to play tough, hard nosed, basic basketball.  That’s what I’m going to be looking for the rest of the season, just hard nosed fundamental basketball. And some hard assed coaching to boot.

We could sure use someone that played like Moye or Neil Reed on this current team.

Exactly, perfect example. It's very typical of our fan base to think the absolute worst after a game like this. We know now it's going to be a very up and down year. Archie is not TC though. He brought in assistants that can recruit. However this season plays out I still think he can sell his vision and the program to get a guy like RL.
How can you rationalize this loss at home by 20? It's not duke for crying out loud. It is completely unacceptable. We aren't great but we have enough talent to win these games. The excuses are sounding like the crean era all over again.

I hate living near fort Wayne. The news and people have been near unbearable today. We could lose any game but this one. My wife graduated from ipfw she is no fan but still laughed lastnight towards the end. I was pissed. I never even know ipfw has a basketball team unless they are kicking iu butt. This is inexcusable to lose to them no matter how decent or capable some on here say they are. I am still on board and believe archie will succeed here but this is farther down than i wanted to fall. Sorry for the rant but tired of insanely pathetic embarrassing performances

Where am I on record as saying the loss is unacceptable? By no means am I conveying this or making excuses. But I am also not saying we are doomed and we have zero chance at RL now that we have lost to ISU and IPFW. I am seeing a lot of that this morning and it is a very knee jerk reaction. This season is not going to go how everyone wants it to go. That's obvious but that doesn't mean the long term outlook still isn't positive.

24 hours later —this one still hurts. I think it is fair to let the team and the world know when we are disappointed and angry. There is no way to sugarcoat a poor performance that should have never happened on our home floor. All that being said—we are still Hoosiers and will continue supporting the team as it struggles to find consistency. No bailing or jumping ship here! Heck—We all survived the Season on the Brink under Knight and the early Crean years. This is nothing compared to those times. Archie will recruit the players to fit his system and just like in Star Wars we will see The Return of The Jedi. We are down but not out—and we will get better. There’s just going to be some growing pains along the way. This old Hoosier will always be there rooting them on—but also letting them know when they play like crap! Flush yesterday and let’s get the next one!

I checked our schedule for last night, and I am wondering why our team failed to show at AH.

The team thought the game was in Fort Wayne, that would explain why so many of their 3s were sssoooooo wide open.

Well these are all Crean players so it makes sense. Archie can only do so much. Some of the guys just don't get it.

Got it.. However, I am not aware of Trae Young making comments about wanting to come in and win a National Championship in year one.

Over the years I have heard many 5 star recruits say the want to come in and win a national title and then they pick a team the clearly isn’t going to win one. For me if wanting to win a national title was seriously one of his number 1 reasons for picking a school then why did he cut North Carolina from his list. A national scout was asked if winning a National Title would be a deciding factor and his answer was most kids say that in interviews but really they will pick the school their family and them think are the best fit to get them ready for the next level.
Mo Bamba picked Texas (11-22)(4-14 in the Big 12) over Duke and Kentucky
Cody Zeller picked Indiana (12-20)(3-15 in the B1G) over North Carolina. How many unofficial visits of watching IU lose do you think Cody took the year before he chose IU?
Recruiting is unpredictable and crazy which is why I love it and follow it so closely

Cody also had Butler on his list as well and was in his final three.

Why does it seem to me teams consistently come into our building and shoot the lights out?   That was a 3-point layup line for a while last night.   We must have the easiest shooting background in the country.  I also wonder if we've worked much on shooting in practice.   I know he's spent a ton of time on defense.

Yeah,  they were open and our defense was bad; but that team also executed very well; and shot incredibly.  They deserve a lot of credit, and that coach will not be in Ft. Wayne long.

Can’t say this is a surprise. The team seems to play to the level of their competition. Plus they just heat a ranked team 2 days prior, mental hangover. The level of intensity was severely lacking.

College basketball is a guards game and we have a inconsistent SG and a backup PG that are both starting.

I don't care who's players they are
That loss is completely unacceptable and flat out embarrassing. I am not going to rationalize any of these losses. The team needs to be held accountable.
