Corruption in College Basketball

Not sure about this part. I can see them taking their chances and challenging, stalling, and who knows what else if the NCAA comes after them.

It’s not their choice. A player cannot play if there is clearance issues.

So I don’t want to be that guy but maybe hiring Crean was a blessing in disguise. I see a lot of names in the list that Crean recruited but didn’t land. PJ Dozier, Diamond Stone, Isiah Whitehead, Monte Morris, and Collin Sexton (AAU teammate of Al Durham). This is just the beginning but who knows how many names with actually be involved. I just think this paints a pretty good picture of why we “lost out” on same recruits. I also thought the recruitment of Trey Lyles was also very fishy and would love to know if there was something under the table to get him to Kentucky.

The thing that makes me mad, is that they just let America know which schools and some instances just what players I'm sure are dirty. Now opposing fan bases are gonna go back and forth and etc. Any school that loses a recruit to any of these schools whether the kid really wanted to go there or not is going to question things. 

Basically it's just going to confuse everyone and if anything help those schools. If this is the worst that can happen and maybe a few wins taken off is all that's going to happen, why not risk it? This isn't the good news people thought it'd be unless the hammer actually hits some of these schools, which I just don't see. UK like I said above is the only one with multiple kids and over 100,000 grand. 

Please tell me why we lost scholarships and had to pretty much start from scratch when Sampson made too many damn phone calls. I know things have changed a lot since then, but man Sampson is a saint compared to half these coaches nowadays.

Exactly!! Doesn't make sense. Now you give all these schools a head start pretty much to figure out the route they need to take.

People on here who are disappointed should not be. This probably is just the beginning not the end. All the people that were getting our recruits made the list. Kentucky duke msu those are guys we all suspected were dirty and evidence is starting to prove that as fact. No iu guys yet and i am willing to bet we wont be.

Good coach? Not so much. Decent, honest, honorable = Tom Crean.

Yeah, Crean could be a blessing for the program as far as some of this ... but he did still have Kenny Johnson on his staff.  Time will tell ..

I can believe it.  More proof that the best way to avoid getting penalized is to deny, deny, deny, and fight the NCAA with everything you've got.  It kind of becomes an "honor system" where schools like UK, UNC, etc. have no problem with acting with impunity.

This.  The NCAA is some bad combo of corrupt/incompetent, trying to make yourself look good won't help.  Don't ever, ever, EEVVVVEEERRRRR self report and self sanction like IU did, that's the dumbest possible thing you could do.

I wouldn't doubt if, at the witching hour of the JBJ announcement, the Blackmon's got cold feet on the Kentucky "all in" deal and selected IU as a safe landing.  If so, very good move and high character.

I worry that the more teams get in trouble the less the punishment there will be. As others have said we gutted our program over phone calls and text messages. I want the big boys like UK to go down and I’m not sure it will happen if the majority of college basketball is found to be corrupt.

Am I wrong?
