To my limited knowledge, not a legal professional or expert, it means their indictment is being replaced with another one. Quote

Yes; that's the bottom line. It means that an existing indictment is being replaced, with an alteration of charges against the same defendants. This is usually not a sea change event, even if a new charge is added or dropped; largely because the federal sentencing guidelines are all but wholly independent of how many counts are charged. So, if a count or two is added or dropped, it will not likely effect the potential punishment. Class of '66 Old Fart and HoosierAloha 1 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 More from Pete Thamel: https://sports.yahoo.com/new-developments-coming-chuck-persons-federal-basketball-case-220020534.html ...This means that the government could be adding new information to the original indictment. It will also likely “further clarify its theory of wire fraud,” which the government had stated it intended to do in a recent filing. “It’s a fair assumption that the government is likely to add facts and/or new allegations that are either responsive to defendants’ effort to dismiss the case and/or newly discovered allegations or both,” said Stephen L. Hill, a partner at the Kansas City branch of the global law firm, Dentons, and a former federal prosecutor. Quote
