This is getting mentioned a lot; it's important to understand the reality of the situation:

From an investigative standpoint, it's tricky. When you have a cooperator and an undercover inserted into a criminal conspiracy, the recordings will lead to the people that the case subjects associate with. That doesn't mean that UK, Duke, or any other school is clean, and it doesn't mean that the case didn't go there, but it could mean that this case which succeeded never came into contact with them. And before you think that the folks who are in deep trouble could flip on the other dirty coaches, remember; the recordings are going to be what eviscerates the defendants, and that type of evidence is either already made on others, or will be all but impossible to collect going forward.

Think of this way:

If an informant and undercover completely dismantle a drug conspiracy from town 'A', that doesn't necessarily mean that the same informant and undercover has any mechanism to dismantle the drug conspiracy the next town over.

Can't wait till these 10 start singing though. A federal prosecutor wants high profile names. Give him Bill Self or Cal and he will let you walk.

I am being unclear...

People involved can only "sing" effectively against people that they were directly conspiring with.

For example, Chuck Person very likely only has anecdotal, hearsay stories about a guy like Calipari. No emails with him, no texts, no recorded conversations, no wire transfers. Nothing that will do any tangible harm. Can Chuck Person do damage to Bruce Pearl? You betcha.

See My 'drug dealer can't help with drug dealer in the next town' example above.

The adidas guy knows the recruits he was bidding for at any number of schools. He knows if he was giving money to Kansas. He knows if he was in a bidding war for multiple recruits that ended up at UK.

The coaches also know the players they were bidding for and whether they lost them to Nike schools.

I must have been unclear - my point has been missed in the post you quoted.

This is where finding a Nike school where "financial advisers" cross over would be excellent.

That would be anecdotal interview fodder, and would not likely lead to all that much. Now if someone was conspiring with multiple shoe companies and there were recordings, that would be different.

Another point of emphasis: Money can be explained away and witnesses can be impeached, but recordings of co-conspirators doing the dirty deed are all but impeachable.

Guys....  Please stop correcting Stuhoo on this stuff.  He's made clear over the past day that he helps criminal organizations navigate these laws with impunity.  He knows exactly how the coaches/agents/shoe salesmen have laundered the money such that the Feds can't touch them.  Let's just thank him for his expertise rather than questioning his advice and morals.

Not really correcting. But it all depends on what these guys did to protect themselves. If I was that adidas rep I would have kept track of everything. Even recording conversations knowing that this could come one day.

Plus what about any information gleaned from the FBI raid last night. The investigation clearly isn't over.

Courier Journal reporter now saying that a UofL employee stating that reports that Jurich has been fired are false. I guess we will find out in about 50 minutes.

I think one thing to bear in mind is that the FBI is concerned with investigating federal criminal activity (obviously).  They probably aren't concerned with simply stopping recruiting corruption.  Any additional info that comes from their investigation and prosecution will need to be addressed by the NCAA.

Sorry guys - I'm afraid I'm being a bit "lecture-y".  I will watch my tone.

1.  I was joking.  Looks like not very well.

2.  Your insight has been awesome.  No reason for us to wallow in ignorance and speculation when we've got a contributing member that understands what's happening

3.  I wonder if Grant Gelon will follow Crean to UofL
