Just a terrible effort  all around. Whole team not just one person. It happens. By far the worst game I’ve seen him and the center grove team play in about 3 years.

Right, I more so meant what is it about him that you think fans will turn on him about? Like Fleek said, is it his effort?

I say screw that contingent. He wants to be a Hoosier, we want him to be a Hoosier. Archie gets paid well to get the best of him. I’m not going to worry about it.

I’m not expecting Vonleh or Zeller but he should be a starter anyway.

He’s a starter for sure. A bad game here or there doesn’t mean squat.

At current trajectory we look to be extremely competitive in 2020 if we can get Brooks.

Phinisee, Al, Brooks, Smith, TJD.

And that’s assuming nobody else(Hunter) is able to take ALs spot.

Effort? Hustle?

I think that is one thing Archie is demanding it seems to me.

when things are not going great his body language is noticeably bad. He lets bat plays build and build and snowball to the point it effects him the rest of the game. When things are rolling he is engaged and ready to roll. For example last week they played Westfield early which is a 2a school. He wasn’t engaged and locked in like you would want. However they won and in the night game they were playing Warren Central and from the tip he was engaged and making his presence felt. I was surprised tonight since it was another big game he wasn’t locked in. They last game they played they played their butts off and had #1 beat so maybe they had some letdown. Having said all that I’m not worried one bit about how he will translate in college. Growing pains and learning to play with a motor which I’m sure the staff will work with him on.

He's got talent coming out his ears. A true post player. Fast, powerful, long, smooth. But yeah like USPS says, the body language is a problem. I think of the way fans turned on Bryant and JBJ. Bryant would whine about calls but still play hard and with heart the next play. If TJD turns it over,  he snaps at a teammate and then disengages. It isn't subtle in the least. Like you guys say, it'll be up to Archie to get him to play hard. Too bad Juwan won't be here for another year to guide Trayce a bit. I will say, the issues seem more pronounced with CG. At EYBL and the USA games, the body language wasn't as bad. And he especially seemed good to go when he was out there with Keion.

Carmel over Center Grove 47-37.

Center Grove hurt itself at the free throw line, making only seven of 17 attempts from the stripe. In addition to the rough night at the foul line, Center Grove just couldn’t make the open shots when it needed to, Center Grove coach Zach Hahn said.

“When your two best players score eight (points) and one (point), we’re just not going to win very many games,” Hahn said. “Give credit to Carmel, some of that was their defensive gameplan, some of that was just us missing too many wide open shots. That’s just the reality of it.”

Jackson-Davis finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.

I remember a player who was on the 81 team from Tech who had some problems with our legendary coach. Some questioned his attitude and work ethic. His play late was a game changer and was instrumental in that team’s success. Combined with I Thomas, Tolbert, wittman and Kitchel, J Thomas; they absolutely destroyed teams in the tournament. If TDJ works at it and is coachable; maybe we can have a similar result.

Closest tourney game was the final 63-50 over UNCheat.

Yep. He really improved in many ways.

After the cool basketball stuff he did this summer, maybe he's a little bored by high school basketball and ready to move on to college? Just spitballing here based on the comments about him not looking engaged at times. It's probably nothing to worry about, imo.

Guys TJD had a bad game. He was after all going up against another D1 kid who is 6’9 and Carmel also has a more talented roster that did finish runner up to Warren Central last year. Carmel also returned their primary players so they are the better team and it’s really not a surprise that they slowed TJD down imo.

This is 100 percent spot on. Better team won and TJD wasn’t enough better than Mulloy to carry them.

Not to mention I’m sure Carmel made sure to at least dig if not double or triple team TJD on every post catch since he isn’t much of a threat on the perimeter and that can be a problem when you have 6’9 standing between you and the basket. I know Owens is about 6’6 for Carmel and they also have a couple of kids that are listed 6’7 and 6’8 on the roster too although I’m not sure how much they play.

Center Grove’s guards are terrible. Trayce is the team. If he had a Brooks on the roster he would get much better looks and fewer double teams. I have seen enough of TJD to know he is good. He put up big numbers in AAU.

Spencer Piercefield is the schools all time leading 3 pt shooter. Our guards are fine
They had a bad game. TJD and the whole team had a bad game.
