Only having one there kinda concerns me, but we'll have Morgan/Davis/Moore back while we lose two starting senior guards so maybe it's not as big of a concern for the staff right now.

I'd like to have a solid backup big that can defend opposing 5s. A 4/5 would be ideal here. (Thompson)

We have young versatile wings with Moore and Smith. I'd like to add another because Morgan will be a senior. (Ballet would be amazing)

We still have young guards after Newkirk and Johnson but an impact guard or two would be great. (Garland, Romeo, Johnson, etc)

This is my point.

How good is Phinisee really? Eric Hunter? Jallow?

Their comps are in the 100-130 range. Phinisee didn't perform well in Summer AAU. Apparently Jallow hasn't but I've seen mixed reviews on that.

It really does make it hard, because if national championship is the true goal we need some of the Langford's, Garland's.

Then, which of these local kids has the patience and mentality to be a great 4 year role player?

Or are they misranked? Could be. Anderson bump his comp about 40 spots based on his Summer performance.

With all the studs we are in on in 19 and only one player set to graduate after 18 I hope Archie just banks the scholarships instead on panicking like Crean. 

Id say we need to use 3 just to have enough bodies. But take the 3 best

Langford the prize. Get him and it makes a statement. The other players are all solid D1 players and could develop into something more. Damezi Anderson is intriguing to me. His team wins at an amazing rate. He can really shoot it. Has good size.

I still think our class could be awesome.

Dort, Anderson, Phinisee, Thompson & Langford & Garland aren't outta the question. Also think we have a strong chance with Bazley.

He added a 4 star a 3 star and an unranked for '17. We might not consider that a success.

Man I'm usually a glass half empty kind of guy but some of y'all are making me feel like the biggest optimist in the room. Everything Archie has been doing has made me think we're in very good hands so I'm not too worried about not having any commitments by the first of July.

Agreed. There are a lot of folks here already supplying excuses or reasons to temper expectations and I don't think that is a good approach or needed. There is no reason he can't pull in a strong class in '18.

Yeah my expectations aren't tempered at all. We didn't fire Crean just to bring in someone else to give us Crean results. Archie hired a great staff, he's building good relationships with hs coaches and he has plenty of early playing time to offer. I don't see any reason why we can't land a very good class. I get that other schools have been in on some of these kids for several years but if they don't decide until later in the cycle that's plenty of time to build a relationship.

I wish we could look back the last 15 years on various sites. This is the conversation for Duke, UNC, Kentucky, and IU. Next year rinse and repeat. It is July. Most people haven't started their OV we are going after yet. Good lord give it time.

Literally no ones doing that, you just have a few posters that anytime a player commits they think the world is coming to an end so people have to bring them back to reality.
