Race Thompson was on campus yesterday with his mom and dad. I think he will be one of our recruits we get in the 18 class. First of many recruits to visit this summer.

Apparently he unofficially visits Michigan tomorrow. Hopefully he can foresee that with Collin, Freddie, and MSB leaving after this year, and with Juwan a senior when he's a frosh, there will be lots of opportunity to go with a great atmosphere.

From a UM website - note that he expects to decide sooner than most:

"Michigan has picked up its pursuit of Minnesota forward Race Thompson after a period in which it appeared the Wolverines were no longer pursuing him. The Wolverines will likely need another forward with Mo Wagner and D.J. Wilson likely out of the picture next year after flirting with the NBA this year.

Thompson fits the bill of what they're looking for. “College coaches really like me being able to stretch the floor out and being able to take the ball up the court," he said in late April. "They tell me I’m a good passer. I see the court really well and that’s the main thing, just being versatile.“I have a pretty good shot. I can shoot pretty much anywhere from the three-point line in.”

That's one of the reasons he's planning a Michigan visit this summer.

"I don't have a date yet," he said. "But I like how successful they have been, and I would be a good fit in their system."

Thompson averaged 13.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game through four contests in Fort Worth at the adidas gauntlet. Michigan, Michigan State and Indiana picked up their pursuit after the event, and IU and Providence both offered.

Thompson will likely cut his list down to four or five schools at some point before making a decision and will pledge some time after AAU season is over [July] but before football season starts. He said he doesn't have a list of favorites at this point, still open.

"I want to fit in the playing style and feel like I’m at home," he said. "That’s the main thing .. and feel like a family in the locker room.”

I agree I hope so. I also think if we get him we would also move up to the front to get Hurt too.

I'm gonna daydream just a little about two of Hurt/Brooks/Watford becoming Hoosiers. Would be a very happy thing.

Could possibly be IU's most talented recruiting year ever if that were to happen

Durham considers himself a point guard. I'm not sure if he really is, but at least he has that mindset going in.

He's more of a lead than anyone else on rhe roster.Really dont think we should sleep on him.Ive seen him play a couple times and like what I see.

Archie must see something in him.

He's shifty as hell with the ball, and knows how to use his body in traffic. Not super quick, but likes to pass and get a shoulder past his defender. Feels like a two guard on defense, and a point on offense to me.

I wouldn't mind two guards like Green and Durham running the show in a few years. However, I think we end up with an immediate impact 2018 PG.

I do think Green and Durham will make each other better over this and next summer. Neither one seems to have quit in them or backdown to another player. Durham won't get the minutes this coming season but he'll eventually be that pest other teams hate playing against.

I wonder who the staff likes better between Johns and Thompson. Both seem like similar type players.

I would like to know this about each position. What say you Fleek?

PG: Garland > Carey > Phinisee
SG: Romeo = Johnson = Dort
SF: King > Bagley
PF: Thompson = Johns

I'm under the impression that Johns would be a 3 maybe a stretch 4 but Thompson is all 4 and a small 5. Johns can shoot the 3, Thompson does not. Also Thompson is much more ready to guard a big and bang in the middle. Johns has more ball handling skills. Just what I've been told.

So you are saying if we get one to expect us to continue pursuit of he other
