So he asked for his release. Was it given? Do you think Alford & UCLA would grant Wilkes his release?

No I don't think Alford would. You said no player has ever been released due to an assistant leaving. I provided one. Yes he was granted his release and he has since committed to the team that finished 2nd in his recruitment Providence

In this article it says it first started out asking because of the assistant leaving but that it actually was he made his decision too soon. So after talking with Coach Ollie he was released.

and he was granted a release from the school when there wasn't a head coaching change.

Hey you have some very good/informative posts, but we can't see a lot of them on the app because you use the and sign instead of typing it out. It's an annoying glitch in the app software, but just a heads up.

Got it, didn't realize that and :-) will start typing it out from now on. Thank you for the heads up.

Assistant coach leaving was main reason he left

OK even if that is correct, even though the ESPN article i quoted said it wasn't. Wilkes didn't go to UCLA for Schilling, he wasn't even the lead recruiter for him. That is why I said it was different situations.

Cool and I never said it was the reason he went to UCLA. Someone asked a question and I gave a hypothetical answer that IF the reason Wilkes went to UCLA was schilling he could get out of his LOI because of coaching change. He is not going anywhere IMO. But if he did he could say well at first I wanted out because of the coaching change like he UCONN guard but after thinking about it Ithought I would be playing with Leaf and Ball. The UCONN kid was granted his release so why can't I. Again he isn't going anywhere

Indiana sophomore big man Thomas Bryant will declare for the NBA Draft, but will NOT hire an agent, source told ESPN.

He will be back unless he wants to play in the D league. Same deal for Blackmon.

The scouts will likely tell him the same things we said all season long and he'll withdraw and be back for his junior year.

To me what will determine his decision is if he can improve his draft stock back to mid 1st round like after his Freshmen year compared to the 2nd round projections currently

There is a dire need of big guys in this years draft. That being said, Bryant had a terrible year. I'd take him with the 28th pick I suppose (Lakers fan)

I think he can. He had an awful season and looked like a guy without a position for most of it. If he gains 20-25 pounds and commits himself to being a post player I think he can get back into the mid 1st round. Next year's draft is supposed to be weaker too so that would help.

I dont even think he would go on the 2nd round imo. Neither will BLACKMON.

The thing with Bryant is that it only takes one strong workout. If he goes and works out for some team in the late teens or 20's and on that paticular day he just goes off shooting in drills, as a 6'10" guy that can shoot he could secure a 1st round promise.

You would know better than probably anyone here...are those promises a real thing, and how set in stone are they? That could really screw someone's life up if they make a promise and don't keep it and no one else picks the guy in the 1st round.
