HoosierAloha Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 He's like 5 of his last 10 or something. I don't want him shooting Newkirk or Hartman style but when he's open he has to shoot. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appHe's actually 5/10 over the last 5 games. He's 4/6 in IU's current three game win streak. If Durham can shoot anywhere close to those numbers he'll see plenty of time as s sophomore. Hartman I can forgive because he's had a pile of injuries, but what is Newkirks excuse? That he's just not good. This season is pretty well right in line with his career shooting numbers, it's nothing unusual with him. Class of '66 Old Fart, bigrod and Stuhoo 3 Quote
Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 No one panic, not my intended purpose, but I made a tweet about Al having a bright future, but you can tell he's raw at times. I communicate with Southern Stampede and don't want this taken out of context. He deleted the tweet shortly after so he knew it wasn't a smart idea. We talked a bit and I don't have a sense if Al isn't happy, but wanted to share in case anyone else has heard anything. This could just be him looking out for Al and thinking he deserves more time who knows. Anyone have any further input? Quote

Archie has played the hot hand. Problem is no one really grabs it and holds onto it. Green has moments that are REALLY high and moments that are really low.Durham has moments that he gets nothing done for stretches. Newkirk is the one that has gotten more minutes than maybe he deserved. But Archie has given Durham and others a chance to grab those minutes and no one has really seized the chance. HoosierAloha Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Durham has had some great stretches in a few games. (Scoring a few buckets, getting to the line, good defensive play) He also has stretches that you don't even know he's out there. It's a freshman thing. I hope he sticks around, works on his shot and confidence, and develops. He could be that all Big Ten defensive stopper that every good team needs. He'll also be able to get to the rim better as he gets stronger. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners GloryDays 1 Quote
Stuhoo Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 If you ask me (even though you didn’t) I think that the most likely transfer outcome for next year is that we will lose Moore and one of the two guards. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app In Newkirk's defense, he was the best FT shooter on the team at just a tick under 80%. RoJo, McRoberts and Green were next at just a hair over 70%. That may have been part of the reason for his extra PT... but he made me crazy at times being out of control, or at just being bad on occasion. Quote

I tried talking reasoning and examples but most were pretty animated. I was hoping someone had heard something to add, but him and Moore were both my guesses to leave though I'd love to keep both. Moore has loads of potential and Al could be a good piece as well. Quote

Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I do however think it's odd honestly. He wasn't some big name prospect or anything and hes probably gotten more time here then he wouldve elsewhere. If this is Al talking through him though I really wish we took Mckinley Wright even more now ElectricBoogaloo and Btownclouds 2 Quote

He's been given chances and he's done pretty decent considering but he hasn't knocked any socks off. Al seems to have a great attitude but dad or coach here might have unrealistic expectations. Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I don't know if it was his dad that tweeted it. They have a few people that update the page every so often, so I don't want to throw his dad directly under the bus, but it did sound like him by how defensive he was getting when I was just saying basic stuff. Who knows honestly lol!!!???? Quote

Popular Post Hoosierfan2017 Posted February 27, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 27, 2018 Al is averaging 18.8 minutes per game this year. That's really good for a 3 star freshman at a Big 10 school. If he's not happy with his playing time he must've really had unreasonable expectations.
