I guess TB and I have a different definition for "mentally tough" because I didn't see it.

Funny, when I read that I was wondering how he defined that term as well. I guess it's mentally tough to accept getting beat by teams with less talent.

Maybe he was going for comedic relief?

Or dealing with scatterbrained Crean all season loss after loss and a rabid fanbase ready to lynch.

Regardless, it isn't a story of perseverance and success.

What a sad season compared to possibilities and presumptions.

No doubt Crean, Thomas, Blackmon can go on towards success. I hope for it and expect it.

Doesn't change a wasted college basketball season from a fan's perspective (except it was bad enough to CAN Crean-so it was worth it in the long run).

The Codys and Victors are more rooted for than the Vonlehs and Blackmon's.

It comes down to winning and investing into IUBB wholeheartedly before, during, and after.

You can condition your support based on how much a player won in school. I won't do that, but that's your prerogative and wasn't even my point.

My point was related to the people cracking jokes based off Thomas's comments when it's pretty obvious what he meant.

So you believe that season made him mentally tough? The same kid that would kick and scream like a 4 year old not getting an ice cream cone if everything didn't go perfect. I doubt very strongly if he learned much about mental toughness this last season.

I largely base my support on a combination of winning and attitude. We didn't win last year, and Bryant's attitude sucked. He behaved like a petulant child on the court. I hope he can be successful wherever he ends up in life, and I hope he fixes his issues, but as an IU player he was a big disappointment this past season.

A lot of people seem to be conveniently removing Bryant's freshman year when IU DID win.....Big Ten title, 27-8 record.  And talent wise that team didn't match up with the IU teams of Oladipo's sophomore and junior years which had two lottery picks.

did Bryant whine about calls?  Sure.  To my knowledge it never cost the team.....I don't remember a single tech he had and any defensive issues he had weren't in getting back.  I don't recall him saying anything negative in the press.

I'll take an immature attitude that cares about winning over a complacent one any day.

Actually, he did get a technical in a freshman year.  He got whistled for showboating after a dunk against a cupcake.

I am sure nobody on this board failed at something aged 19. And I'm positive none of you look back on any failures in your life as a learning experience that eventually made you a better person.

Apples and oranges. Failing and getting back up, dusting yourself off with a determination to succeed, and then actually succeeding is way different than coming in tenth place and talking about how tough you are.  Hopefully he figures that out.
