Travis Scott Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Bryant has a TON to gain by coming back this next year and working with a new staff on the block and dominating the glass. I see potential for a big stat jump and that's just from correct utilization, not even player growth. JBJ on the other hand is a shooter. He's been a real good shooter for a real long time, but his other skills have and I feel will always be lacking to some degree no matter the time/effort he puts in. IMO, JBJ should go get paid while he can (wherever that may be) and TB could really make a difference in his first contract by staying back a year. reconmkd, Tom White, mdn82 and 2 others 5 Quote
HoosierAloha Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 I've said it many times and I'll say it again. Thomas Bryant would have a resurgence under Archie. The most important difference would be Archie would put Bryant at his natural position. Why Crean tried to make him a wing is beyond my comprehension. Put his @$$ in the post like freshman year and Bryant will once again be a beastBryant will need of summer in the weight room and dance hall to be a dominate low post scorer. His freshman year he excelled from offensive rebounds for putbacks and Yogi dropping him dimes. Bryant's footwork isn't good enough to be dominant in the B1G. Popular Post Stuhoo Posted April 17, 2017 Popular Post Posted April 17, 2017 Ummm...guys (and gals): I know we've been focused on Al and Justin at the Derby last weekend, but Clifton Moore played in the Jordan Brand regional game against a whole lot of top 100, and even more than a couple top 50 ranked players. No defense played in the game; final score 170-162, and our guy Clifton had 11 points. The big takeaways likely came from the experts who saw the game and the workouts between these top recruits. Here's what Draft Express (Givony) had to say about our incoming freshman: CLIFTON MOORE, PF/C, CLASS OF 2017, INDIANA STRENGTHS -Intriguing physical profile at 6' 10 with a frame that should fill out really nicely in time (although on the thin side right now). Long arms. -Fluid in the open floor. Bouncy in space. -Projectable shooting stroke out to three. Ball comes out of his hand really nicely. Great rotation. Has the agility and footwork to shoot off the bounce a little bit as well. -Can straight line drive in space. -Has upside defensively given his length and agility WEAKNESSES-Nice frame but on the thin side right now -Doesn't have the most natural feel for the game -Not overly physical on the defensive end -Prefers to float on the perimeter a little bit offensively -Shooting potential not fully realized at this stage OUTLOOK-The Indiana signee stood out as the most interesting long-term prospect in the Jordan Brand Classic Regional Game. At 6'10, he has the size and length to play some five down the road once he fills out, and the agility to play the four. It's hard to find bigs with Moore's tools and shooting potential, which is likely the key to unlocking his long-term upside. Given the nature of the game we weren't able to get an extended look at Moore's defensive intensity and decision making, but we were able to identify him as an NBA prospect worth tracking. Moore elected to remain committed to Indiana despite the coaching change, and is a major building block for Archie Miller and his staff moving forward. IF Bryant returns it will be best for him and IU to play in the post. He's not going to play on the perimeter in the NBA, he just doesn't have that game. Archie should utilize him in the post depending on the lineup and matchup. He CAN be a dominant big after a good summer. That's where he'll make his money. He was in the post. That's where he should be at all times Quote
Travis Scott Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 The big question is if TB leaves, can Clifton Moore fill the shoes as our next point center? I want to see crazy hedging out to the half court line, at least 5 threes a game, and 4 TO's dribbling outside the arc. WayneFleekHoosier, Hoosier Guy and CR3AMnCR1MS0N 3 Quote

Very hot take on Keion Brooks, which will be added to the Keion Brooks thread. Lots of great info to come from this, I'd love if we could end up with Brooks in 2019. Schilling should camp out in that family's front yard. Also I'm going to go out on a limb and predict Phinisee will be Archie Miller's first commitment at IU, not including the 2017 guys to reaffirm their commitments. I think he really wants to come here. bnkepner and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

HoosierAloha Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Clifton Moore reminds me of Jarred Uthoff. I'd be thrilled if he can become that good. Sent from my SM-G935P using BtownBanners mobile app If he develops into a Jarred Uthoff type player that would be stellar. I would want him to bulk up to play a bit more in the post and to be a better defender. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Jonathon Giovanny tweeted a story about some kids today and Moore was one. Basically to sum it up he said he could be an NBA player if he learns how to be more aggressive. All Moore's knocks were things that could easily change and should. I believe that he won't be here for 4 years and think his sophomore year he is gonna be one of our top players. Him and DD along with Smith, Phinisee and Romeo would compete for a title. Romeo is still a long shot but that would be awesome team. Juwan probably still starts but Moore will be our 6th man. Point being the future is BRIGHT at IU under Archie.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
