IU Candidate: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)

Recommended Posts

Celtics aren't winning a title anytime soon with that roster.

Although they look to have a bright future, they could've easily had a better roster by now.

Come home Brad. Come enjoy the small town living with a short drive to work everyday

Eh, I've envisioned waking up next to Emma Watson for about 4 years too.  That hasn't happened yet either.

Maybe if you offer her 7-8 mil she might....and no offense to you but I doubt Emma has ever considered you to be her dream lay....just sayin.

I totally get what you're saying and I think you're right, but calling NBA the highest level is about like calling professional wrestling the highest level.

The NBA is irrefutably the highest level of basketball. College has become unbearable to watch with the way the officials slow the game down. The NBA is at its highest level since the Jordan years. Great defense and even better offense. Best players by a LONG shot and great coaches. There is a reason that the NBA is a growing global brand. It's bc it's the highest level of basketball being played on planet earth.

Thank you. I'm not a big NBA fan because I've never had a team to cheer for, but it's the best damn version of the game out there. I'll argue college basketball has more parity, and has more of an emotional connection for fans, which I think leads many to say college is better.

I had previously written Stevens off as a no chance... but with new things going on who knows.??? I mean he always said he wouldn't consider the IU job if there was a coach there... well now there is not does that change his mind... At 1 time it was his dream job... is it still? He has to realize this may very well be his ONLY chance to make that dream come true...

Stevens is 40 now which is young, but if we do hit a homerun (either BD immediately or some up an comer that turns into a GREAT 1) they could potentially be here for 15-20 years.... at that point Stevens is 60 and even if we did have an opening would we go for somebody that old (no matter how good).

He's in a tough position.

He's at one of the most storied franchises in sports history. He's also got some decent pieces coming soon (Hayward, #1 pick, etc). Theres something to build in Boston. But like you said, this may be the only time where he can come to IU at a decent time in his life.

I think he listens to Fred, thinks about it for a night and turns it down. I just hope Fred is reaching out to him and Billy and not head over heels for Steve Alford.

Agree with not going wrong with either of those two coaches. Both of them are great and grand slam hires. But if both wanted to coach IU, I'm taking Brad every single time. He would be a God here. Not only would he reunite the fan base but would also recruit the state with great success

I said for the longest time to not rule out Brad Stevens. Who knows how good a chance it is to get him, but there is a chance. IU is his dream job so that alone gives this potential grand slam hire a chance

Until he got a taste of coaching the Celtics.....

Celtics and Lakers are the two most prestigious NBA jobs. It's not even a debate. But there is something about going to your dream job or school
