Definitely seems like a great resume to this point for someone so young. I tend to think you need a little more experience to run a program as major as IU, but I really like that he's getting head coaching experience at the NBDL level, that he's seems incredibly smart, and comes from the Butler tree. One thing I've said is that if we make a change I want Glass to get really creative. Do what he needs to do to get the best coach possible, no matter how outside the box it may be. Don't settle for a retread because you're afraid. So, this would certainly qualify. I'd need to read up more, maybe he'd be better suited for a lead assistant/coach in waiting under an older/experienced coach, I would definitely be open to him. Stuhoo, ALASKA HOOSIER and VO5 3 Quote

The timing would have been perfect: a second Big Ten title in four years, a triumphant turnaround after a disastrous start, winning without one of the top scorers…yet no extension, and Glass was perfectly fine with sending Crean into the offseason to recruit players who were told by other coaches that Crean was not under contract for their senior season. Now, with our tournament fate very much in limbo, almost certain regression from a year ago, and very little recruiting momentum, Glass is going to be ok with that? Let it play out. I assume the reason no extension happened last off-season is because at that time Crean still had 4 seasons left on his contract (through 6/20/2020) and Glass saw no need for an extension then. Once this season's over, Crean would thus presumably have only 3 seasons left and that's why I expect an extension next spring in order to "help him recruit." Only way I don't see that happening is if Crean's team doesn't even get an NCAA tournament bid--and even then I wouldn't be shocked to see an extension. If it does happen, I hope to God it's not as extravagant and over-the-top as the last one, and that the $1 Mil buyout (after 7/1/2017 IIRC) can be reduced even further, maybe to $500,000. Not saying I like or agree with this scenario, only that I suspect it's the most likely one at this point in time. And I'm unapologetically selfish about TC's hypothetical replacements--I'm not very interested in Nored, or even Holtmann, Mack, Jacobson or A.Miller. I want a "home run hire" that says, for maybe the first time in 16 or 17 years, IU Admin "got it right." Unfortunately, for me about the only guys who fit that category are Stevens, Donovan, T. Bennett and S. Miller, and I don't know if any of them would be genuinely interested. So IU either gambles on extending Crean or gambles on someone from the Holtmann, Mack, Jacobson or A. Miller category. Also, from what I've heard, Gregg Marshall and Glass might not be a good fit, philosophically speaking. And GM's already making almost as much as Crean does, so I don't know how much ($4 Mil a year? $4.5?) it might take to get him interested. Not sure how he'd approach recruiting at a (formerly?) elite program like IU's, either. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

It was a Q & A and Jordan gave this answer: Coach Crean: I have never seen Coach shoot a jump shot. Ever. He would always demonstrate drills and such but he never actually fired it up there. Maybe he did it so we could just get on with the drill because he was always super efficient with practices and what we had to get done…But 4 years and never see him shoot a jumper? Pretty interesting, haha. Could we assume, he has absolutely no technique or understanding of shooting fundamentals because he never played the game at a high level? http://www.crimsonquarry.com/2015/11/22/9778848/heres-tom-crean-airballing-a-free-throw-in-maui I think this may be why... hsrtxp, MikeRoberts and Stuhoo 3 Quote
