TOM CREAN FIRED

Not just because of today, but I'm starting to think we shouldn't just dismiss Bennett because of whatever might have happened with his sister. It was a different admin then, and he may be the most qualified, realistic guy in college right now.

I'll always say Stevens is the first call, but Bennett might be next. The right amount of money can change people's minds.

Offering to double some bodies salary has a way of garnering forgiveness. He literally makes less than Crean it's mind boggling.

He's as slimy as they get but I think I would take that over what we've had for the past 9 years, especially if Crean ends up staying for another 2-3 years or more. Of course not everyone will agree with that, but you aren't going to win in today's NCAA unless you're operating in the gray areas. I would rather win "dirty" than lose the "right way" but that's just my personal opinion.

Nail on the head. I would take him and at the minimum some final fours and the publicity than what we got. If Cal left no doubt he would bring the program back to being sought after at least to where we had our pick of coaches. I still don't understand how Greenspan thought Sampson was a better candidate than Calipari at the time. Cal's sanctions cant even be used because Sampson had his too. Was Cal brought to UK the same year Crean to IU or was Cal a candidate when Crean was hired as well? I know Brownell was likely next to be offered but that was also with the Derrick Rose stuff going on. I get why they didn't the second time if that was the timing.

Greenspan had NOTHING to do with the hiring of Kelvin Sampson.    Zero.

I want a COACH. Not a player developer. Not a recruiter. A proven COACH. Recruiting resources at IU + a proven coach will equal success.

I really think Bennett might be that guy. As Brass Cannon said, throw a dump truck of money at him and he may forget whatever the issue was with his sister.

I dont want Cal. He isnt much better than Crean when it comes to coaching. #1 classes hide a lot of issues. Go read the UK boards recently. Self out coached him big time yesterday. If he drops out of the top 10 in recruiting classes for a couple years UK will fire him or he will move on.

I would rather win like Villanova and jay wright did last year. I haven't seen anything from the college basketball media or world to say he is a big cheat. I'm sure there might be gray areas even for him but they are not dark gray with everyone talking about them

So would I. Calipari wouldn't be close to the top of my list of dream coaches for IU. Given the choice between his style and what Crean has done here I just think I would take Calipari. I would much rather have a coach who competes at a high level while running a relatively clean program like Jay Wright. (Bloomington's a great place Jay Wright, come visit please)

Ehhhh.

Hard pass. Plus, he looks just like Crean. We need a young pup. Who is that young pup? No idea.

Mike White (Florida) has interested me a tad.

Sort of a system guy, Marshall.  Don't think his act would play in the Big Ten

He's not a great in game coach, but he is definitely a better in game coach than Crean.

Yeah I know Gregg Marshall has had great success at Wichita State, but I just don't want him as the HC. It's Stevens 1-10 on the list and then everyone else for me

Id give a lot of guys a chance.

I would too but Calipari isn't one of them. I would never want to hear "the greatest day for IU basketball is when we had X amount of players drafted in the first round." I want to win at an elite level but that's not the way I want to do it. There's a huge difference between not being clean and Calipari, some might not differentiate the two but I do.

I would like a coach Bennet style program where players stick around and develop. It would be cool to follow "unknowns" that were the fourth or fifth recruit in a recruiting class, didn't do much as underclassman, and then were the glue guys as upperclassmen. I think the difference between coach Bennet at UVA and IU would be him getting one or two high level recruits that could play a big role in a tourney run. I'm thinking Wiscy the last few years under Ryan.

Last year at Virginia mind you according to 247 he had 7th best class for 2016 with 4 top 100 players including an Indiana kid.
