Well it may become an all to real reality soon.

Dude give it a rest already.  Everyone on this board knows your stance.  Glass and Crean are tied at the hip.  Glass will extend Crean at least one more year after this season.

You're just speculating like everyone else.

I was an assistant High school hockey coach with a guy that reminds me of Crean.

I ran the offense, decided lines, subs, decided anything Strategic relating to hockey.

HE gave motivational speeches, dealt discipline, and handled parents. He was great at that.

We were a perfect team. We each did what we are best at. He didn't really know hockey per se but felt like he did because he was always around it. He never played.

I was hoping Crean could find an assistant that was the Ying to his Yang. Don't think we have that guy.

I question whether he wants that guy. I think his ego is to big to have someone like that.

Would he even listen to said assistant though?

He likes to have assistants that used to be head coaches, but there's probably a reason they're not head coaches any longer.

of the two, I think Donovan might be more inclined to consider returning to college coaching in the next year or two than Stevens, given the likely immediate futures of the 2 franchises after Durant's exit. Hoiberg may be looking by then too, but I'm not completely sold on him as a college coach.

Unfortunately I agree with this.  I don't know much about the NBA right now other than what I follow through the headlines, but if someone who knows more than me can tell me what the likelihood of Russell Westbrook leaving OKC is, because I know he can become a free agent after 2017-2018 if he wants.  If he bolts, Donovan knows his time there will not be long.

And man, I don't know if there is a professional franchise that hasn't won a title in the last 5 years whose arrow is pointed higher up than the Celtics right now.  Everyone believes in Brad Stevens, he has the support from management and fans, players respect him, and I think they have another lottery pick this draft too.

It would take an awful lot to pry Brad Stevens away from that situation.  It's nothing at all like the Harbaugh/49er situation that caused him to bolt for Michigan.

He signed an extension last summer, as did Adams and Olidipo. He's not going anywhere , and while they still need a piece or two, they're not doing that bad considering the loss of Durant. They were 4th in the West going into the game they lost to the Clippers last night.

I'm just gonna say this, if Brad Stevens loves Indiana basketball even HALF as much as I do, it wouldn't matter where I'm currently coaching or the $ I'm getting paid.  If the Indiana Hoosier head bball coaching spot becomes available and I'm who they want....they wouldn't even be able to finish asking me before I said yep!  For those of us who truly love Indiana basketball, it's the ultimate bball job out there!  Thats why I don't believe anything is set in stone yet with Brad.  To quote the coach we are talking about replacing, "it's Indiana, it's Indiana."

He grew up idolizing IU and Bob Knight, that would have to pull at him some.

I can see where they're coming from though, it'd be hard to walk away from one of the most historic franchises in the NBA even for one of the top programs in college hoops history that you idolized.

You have to try though and you have to have the mindset that you're going to get your guy.  If you have the mindset that he won't leave there, you mat as well not even try.

As I understand it, Westbrook's extension still allows him to opt out for free agency in 2018 (one year later than his former contract) and if OKC doesn't sign Griffin or some other free agent to replace Durant, I fully expect Westbrook to strongly consider leaving for the Lakers. The question then would be, does Donovan still want to coach the Thunder without both Durant and Westbrook? Dunno, but it might at least nudge him towards consideration of a return to college BB, if he felt he had a better shot at another NCAA title than an NBA title down the road. Maybe he'd be perfectly happy continuing to coach in the NBA even knowing his team had little shot (without Durant and Westbrook) of overtaking the Warriors and Spurs. But I'd definitely want to know that for certain if I were a college AD looking to hire a new BB coach in 2018 or thereabouts.

That is fair. I don't think there is a precedent for a NBA leaving on his own as a head coach to go back to college. A lot less headaches with not having to recruit. More family time that way. I do agree you ask, but it is no different with every other NBA coach. You put feelers out and see where your opportunities are.
