Everyone on this board is bi-polar. No one on this board knows anything. If the truly insider guy is the "janitor" (which who knows how much he knows although he seems to have a good record) he has not said anything about Crean returning unless I've missed it. He's just says Alford's interest is from his side and not IU's in last couple days. Let's see how this plays out.

Is Fred Glass really having an announcement at 6:00? If so wouldn't that lean to him firing Crean? If he was coming back wouldn't he just make a statement or send out a message on social media like the other ADs have done in support of their coaches.

He is a preferred walk on for the baseball team but I could see that even being ugly for him with the fan base wanting his father to move on.

A teacher told his daughter he was fired as a prank, his son got booed and yelled at at his school and that was when this was all mild. Why on earth would Glass or Crean think staying is best for either of them? On campus there will be a lot more bigger fans than at hs's. Riley sadly will not be welcome even as a student here. Not saying it is right it is just facts. If he was a star baseball player he may gotten better treatment, but he is a walk on. Crean has to look out for his family at this point. It isn't about anyone but them. Crean knows this fanbase will never be behind him even halfway. Why would a coach want to even do that to begin with? Glass may be an idiot and want to keep him but this is on Creans shoulders.

While we continue in this holding pattern / limbo / purgatory, after catching up on the 12 or so pages I missed, I suspect "the Janitor" might have flown too close to the sun and has been informed to cool his jets.  If this theory is correct, it may be a good thing..

I don't see what the benefit would be to waiting until after the NIT, which isn't exactly a prize to begin with.  Make the announcement before and IU is instantly the best job that is known to be open.  Wait and Glass looks like he has lower expectations than Illinois and Missouri.

I rarely post, but am so upset at the prospect of our retaining Coach Crean as our head coach that I just fired off a respectful, yet very honest email to Fred Glass. I would encourage all of you to do the

Mr. Glass, I felt compelled to write now that the season is over and decisions need to be made with regards to the future of the Men's basketball program, more specifically Coach Crean's future as our head coach.

I have been a fan since the glory years of the mid-70s and graduated from the university in '92. Hard to say this as I consider myself a true fan, but was unable to watch a good number of games this year due to a growing apathy that I truly believe is running rampant in our fan base. The inability to sustain success coupled with the repeated issues of poor defense and way too many turnovers have me very concerned with the direction of our program.

Coach Crean seems like a really good person who graduates players and has their genuine best interests at heart. With that said, he is paid over $3M per year to do all of this and yet provide a winning brand of basketball, one that the fans can take great pride in. This is not happening in my opinion.

At this point in time, you are the steward in terms of the future direction of this program. I'm not sure you can feel it from your vantage point, but this fan base is ready to implode. I live in Fort Wayne and have never seen such indifference to the Hoosiers in my life. There is zero confidence that Coach Crean will ever be anything more than what he has shown during his 9 years here. He will have a few good years mixed with very average to poor years. This new generation of IU fans will know nothing but mediocrity. Unfortunately, we can no longer be viewed as a blue blood program and that is a shame based on our history, facilities, and once proud fan base.

It is sad for me to see schools such as NC State and Illinois take lack of sustained success more serious than we do. How is that possible?

The school will not suffer dramatically from the loss of my support moving forward, i.e a few games a year, merchandise, and lots of cable viewership, but I still wanted to be heard. This is unfortunately it for me barring a change in leadership.

And those fans should be directing their comments towards glass in that case.  U can't blame crean for wanting to stick around and make 3 mil.  I would.  It's glass that is obviously the REAL problem if Crean is back.

I'm still holding out hope he's gone. If not, like most of you, my enthusiasm for IU is gone

This may be my last day on this board of he is back. I can longer support this trash and iu won't ever be elite again anyway if he is back.And all these so called insiders are worthless. One day they say he is 100% gone. The next day they say he is coming back. Good lord.
