TOM CREAN FIRED

Not necessarily. Just read an article recently about how well Glass is doing for the school financially. As long as he's bringing in the $$$ I don't think a lot of people will care.

You think fans care more about the money IU makes than Championships?

That's just incorrect. We sellout games consistently and justa received the largest single donation in program history. Our lackluster results are not actually materially impacting our revenue.

Also, firings and departures are business as usual activities. We just made back to back bowl games, hired a promising but unproven coach, and brought in a handful of extremely talented assistant coaches with strong background at SEC programs. We'll see how CTA pans out, but our football team has been on a steady climb, and appears ready to continue on that trajectory.

0708 disagrees and says booster support is down.

We just fired the football coach and lost our 2 best assistants and our basketball program is making a fraction of what it could.

Not to mention our basketball program will always make a ton...No matter what really.

If Crean is coaching IU next year, or worse extended, Glass needs to go. Championships need to be the #1 goal for IU basketball - if he believes Crean is the guy to bring banner 6 - he's worse than incompetent, he's delusional.

If Crean is extended, I'll agree that Glass is not aligned with necessary expectations for the basketball program. If CTC, is back without an extension, I'd see that as a sign that Glass is holding out for the right hire and it wasn't there this year. I don't see Glass rushing this.

It's truly baffling to me that people actually believe Glass doesn't know how important the basketball team and making the right hire is to the long-term stability of his job, which I'm sure he values very, very highly.

I would really advise people temper their expectations.  Even if a meeting is supposed to occur with his agent today, which would have to be a good sign, he could still say no.

I'll believe Crean is gone when it's announced, I'll believe Donovan is hired when it's announced.  I do not trust Glass.

I'm expecting Chris Collins or Holterman. Stevens/Billy would be the second coming of Jesus.

This is completely fair. I also don't think our expectation should be that Glass can just go out there and pull an NBA coach back to college basketball because "it's Indiana", as much as we all want to believe that. Doesn't mean he can't, just probably shouldn't be the expected result. And honestly, Glass has no track record to support that he could pull it off. I also don't think he's done anything to prove he can't though.

He has been a coordinator for way longer than 2 total years...

He's been a defensive coordinator for a grand total of 2 years.  Before that he was a linebackers coach for 3.  That's the extent of his coaching career.

Also, who is gunning for the AD position at IU and paying Fkfootball by the post to run the smear campaign on Glass here at BTB?

Fk, if you're sourced, great. But if not, why do you keep posting the same thing that contradicts sourced individuals if you're purely speculating? Not that forum credibility has any importance in real life, but you taking a pretty hard stance if you don't have concrete reasons to say Crean is staying.

Isn't this the internet? He doesnt like Glass much like myself. All that we have heard is that Glass wants a soft landing for Crean. What about Indiana the school he works for? F Crean and his soft landing. I want whats best for Indiana, and if it doesn't work with Crean's soft landing then tough sh?t. This is becoming more about Glass/Crean than the task at hand which is finding a winning basketball coach. The tails wagging the dog at Indiana.

It's like when you buy a PowerBall ticket.  The 2 days of hopes and dreams before the drawing are the real high.  The letdown is expected.

Seriously, Glass knows all about the importance of the basketball program.  He knows it from plebs like us.  And he knows it from mid-level boosters.  And he knows it from the Simon-Skjodt level, too (I've heard things from a buddy of a buddy...)

Idk maybe it's more recent I'm sure money was flowing last year.

Certainly. It'll be interesting to see final revenue from this season, but the money was still flowing two years ago when we were all calling for CTC's head. I haven't looked at attendance numbers for this season, but I wouldn't expect to see any significant decrease. Maybe a little one, but I bet we're still top 15 in attendance.

Fans gotta realize that they're their own worst enemies here. Our loyalty is permanent and never ending, meaning the cash will always be flowing.

I still think Crean is done here, and it was Glass telling him it's time to go. Hopefully Glass can land the right guy.
