This article gives me so much hope!! A lot of good kids could be hitting the market just in time for our new coach to go after them!! Georgetown has Waters who we all liked he is number one, washington has Porter and maybe little bro, Illinois has a cpl solid kids, and add that to the rest and it could be a fun spring. I see this year having more power 5 job openings than most years. The coaches who come to big jobs always seem to have a good grad transfer possibility as well. I want to get my hopes up so bad but idk. I think we have 2 weeks tops till we find out for sure.

IMO - this is the state of team:

Bryant - hard working, emotional, still needs skills refined, not NBA worthy yet (will return next year)

O.G. - Good player, shows flashes of greatness, inconsistent when he did play this year, needs a supporting cast and coach (will return next year)

Newkirk - Tried to fill a role this year that was left with high expectations, average player skills, might be better off the bench. (will return next year)

Juwan - Has improved, definitely is an all-around player, needs to learn how to attack and be more aggressive, with the right offense he can be dangerous (will return next year)

RoJo - Good player, flashes of greatness, not the best ball handler, typically hibernates around mid-season, definitely has checked out (if Crean stays, I believe Robert may be gone).

JBJ - Gone regardless of what happens at this point.  He is trying to get all he can get right now. (will not return).

DD - Has shown the biggest surprise in all the Freshman this year.  Will definitely improve next year (will return next year).

Green - Has definitely shown ability in flashes, gotten better as the season goes, Freshman mistakes, not seeing him gel with coach (50/50 on next year).

CuJo - Hasn't shown anything, hasn't had a real good opportunity, would be better off somewhere else IMO (may transfer out).

McRoberts - Has only filled in as a warm body.  Made some hustle plays here and there. May get scholarship if Crean stays (will return if allowed to).

McSwain - big, physical, low basketball skills.  Great Juco player.  Good junk player off the bench. Can't see him playing before a couple of guys next year. (may not be back next year).

Crean - Didn't adjust anything for these basketball players.  Didn't keep it simple and fundamental.  Didn't use players strengths, Forced many of the weaknesses (DEFINITELY GONE NEXT YEAR).

New name popped up on 247 called BTowninsider. Not sure if he has legitimate sources or what, but says we should start getting excited. Says Crean will be gone and the excited part was in reference to who our next coach could be. Hopefully it's true. I'm probably reading into everything too much but man I want all of this to be true. Looking to grasp at anything right now

It is, but so is most of the stuff being posted. It's implied, but take everything with a grain of salt. I think most of us are in desperation mode to start over and get rid of this coach, which is why any new piece of info is something to cling to.

I can't disagree with these thoughts.  IMO, we WILL have defections - who and how many will depend on what FG does.  If he does nothing, I can see a significant exodus.  If he brings in a homerun type hire, it can be minimized.  Being over signed, we need there to be some attrition - especially if the new coach is to bring anyone new in.

I'll add one thing: I believe Newkirk can be a solid contributor if he's reigned in and given a defined role.  The current helter-skelter style of play is a recipe for bad decisions and turnovers.  That's a major weakness that must be corrected.

I'm hoping deep down its Fred Glass and he was tired of all the rumors so he created an account to finally let everyone know what was going on.

Newkirk - Not the thread for it really, but I'm totally digging Newkirk lately. His speed is incredible and as long as he keeps his head on straight, he absolutely is a needed commodity on the team. He was near useless 2 months ago and now he is back to hitting 3s and so strong on the drives. Almost like Yogi bullying his way into the hoop. Definitely improving down the stretch. I'd like to retain him for next year.
