Uspshoosier Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Bennett is a 5* option in my opinion. Pace of play might scare off some people but after the defense we have been watching for 9 years, watching his defense being played in Bloomington would be a breath of fresh air Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners MikeRoberts, GloryDays, Alford Bailey and 4 others 7 Quote

I would put Andy Enfield and Marshall in that 4 star range too. Honestly I'm not too enthusiastic about Holtmann. I mean he's a good coach and wouldn't be upset if we got him, but I just don't want him to be our first call. We have to get a guy who is an obvious upgrade over Crean and right now, Holtmann hasn't done anything in the tournament that Crean hasn't. Just come up with $7M/year and make Donovan or Stevens say yes. HoosierAloha, ALASKA HOOSIER, Napleshoosier and 1 other 4 Quote

Ryno6284 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 I'm not really sure why. I just never really cared for him as a coach. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
TheWatShot Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 He was the second coach ever to win 500 games before turning 50 years old. The other guy used to coach here. He had 16 straight seasons with 20+ wins at Florida. Hard to find any faults here. HoosierAloha, Napleshoosier, thebigweave and 2 others 5 Quote
Ryno6284 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Probably because I don't really know much about him. I never paid any attention to Florida basketball, unless it was the NCAA Championship games they were in. Me not doing my due diligence on him. It's probably not a fair thing to say about him without knowing all I need too. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

I wouldn't want him to be the first call, but I'd be happy with him. We need a tactician. thebigweave, mdn82, ALASKA HOOSIER and 1 other 4 Quote

HoosierTrav Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 A good coach/recruiter can turn around a basketball program in 1-2 years especially with resources like IU has.I used to bring this up but got tired of getting chewed out for having that opinion. It's the truth. Elite coaches that are elite at all levels, get programs turned around in very short order. Hoosier_roots, CrossboneIU22, Alford Bailey and 1 other 4 Quote
HoosierTrav Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 I think I'm in the minority here, I don't really want Marshall or Donovan.I'm not a believer in Marshall at all but Donovan would absolutely dominate at Indiana. He did what he did at a school where basketball played 3rd fiddle behind football and baseball. He's elite. He can consistently recruit, develop, x's & o's, etc. Give him a blueblood program and he'll be consistently in Final Fours in no time. He's also very well respected amongst the professional ranks. Imagine him recruiting now, considering what he can pitch to the elite players. I would be beyond excited if we were lucky enough to land Billy D....Brad Stevens is my obvious #1 choice, but Billy Donovan is not far behind by any stretch of the imagination. He's a homerun hire. One of the few. ThompsonHoosier, LIHoosier, ALASKA HOOSIER and 1 other 4 Quote
