I don't see any way we could ever be a 1. Even if we won out we would be borderline 1/2? Maybe I am underestimating how that would look by the end of the year but IMO the most realistic "high" seed is a 4. I think we end up in the 4-7 range.

Which sorta says it all.  In a stacked year we are setting the bar so low

That would be a lot of helium and assume that nobody in between us and the top get no big wins. I think UNC and Oklahoma are as close to a lock as you would have at this point. I wouldn't be surprised for Kansas to split with Oklahoma and somehow land on that 1 line. We would no doubt have to win out to overcome that big Duke loss on national tv.

kansas would have a loss to Oklahoma st rpi 131 which in the committee's eyes would be a bigger loss then ours at Duke

Oh I agree with that. I know our worst losses on paper aren't Duke, but the thrashing we took was on tv. So that would more than likely be something they remember.

i could see the big 12 getting 2 teams on the 1 line. Whoever wins that conference deserves the 1 overall seed. As of today 6 teams in the rpi top 25

I am not really setting any bar. I am assuming based off what we have done and who we have left. It's not luck I am happy or pissed about that. That's just what I see as our position by the end of the year. In fact I am one of the very few that actually predicted us to have this record after 10 games in conference. Most had us pegged from 2 wins to 6 wins. That's setting the bar low.

im not sure how much they really look into margin of a loss. Every team can have a bad showing. Xavier got pounded by 31 at Villanova. I would hope they wouldn't punish them for that loss because I believe Xavier is a top 5 team. Just remember the committee didn't punish wisky last year when they had a loss to a plus 200 rpi team Rutgers. They still give them a 1 seed

As crazy as this will sound coming from me I can't say I am too high over the UM game. Great game for us. But even as someone that has softened on Crean this year we have continually beat UM. Let's just let the year play out. He will either continue to impress or he won't. I am not sure the drastic swings from game to game change anything. Let's keep this up!

Honestly, games like this make me even more upset when we play one of those games where the players and staff look like they don't have a clue. His biggest fault is consistency and 2 horrible games followed by 1 great one is right on par for Crean.

Losing by 3 in OT at Wisconsin is hardly a horrible game. We played like crap against Minny, yes.

This is where I am. If he can put together a few seasons of sustained success, then I'd start giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Unless that "continued success" includes multiple B1G Titles and a trip or two to the FF; I honestly don't think he will get a few seasons.

There has to be some consistency, and that consistency has to be at a level higher than we have had.

Absolutely agree with you on consistency, that's the huge question with Crean, and it goes beyond game-to-game and is even more about season-to-season, but in this case I'm going to disagree a bit. The Wisconsin and Minnesota games are going to happen over the course of an 18-game conference schedule. Look at Maryland, they've struggled against some of the bottom-feeders too.

My problem would be if we follow up last night and basically cancel it out with a dud at Penn State. That's the game where we find out if Wisconsin/Minny were just the dog days of the conference season, or if consistency is going to be a big issue. We can't blow what happened yesterday by not showing up ready to play Saturday.

I think its how we lost, failure to execute down the stretch.

I doubt there is data to back this up but I would be willing to bet at least 70% of all losses have this common theme in all of sports. IMO that should just be we lost. That shouldn't be a situation where we should say "how we lost". How we lost should be turnovers never gave us a chance. Or we couldn't keep them off the glass. Or they continually beat us inside (which is why I think we lost at Wisky).

I think the fouls stats show why we lost the game . After last nights performance this thread should go dormant for awhile .
