@KentSterling: Indiana Morning Sports List – Top 8 things that need to change for IU Basketball to become successful. #iubb
https://t.co/7lGqOkN8hm

#3 has been my point for a long while.
#4 is sadly funny.
#7 has sparked a big Twitter debate.

THOUGHTS?

#1 - what many of us believe is true; but an equal number still don't think is a problem.

#2 - what us armchair coaches have been tearing our hair over.

#3 thru #6 - Sterling must closely monitor btb and our threads.

#7 - hadn't really noticed this one in particular, but yeah, doesn't seem like Lyonel's position is one that should be barking at the players during gametime or timeouts.

THOUGHTS?

#1 A lot of the damage is his own.  Not sure what he can do, here.

#3 is so accurate, it's comical.  Absolutely.

#4 Tom Crean and Chuck Pagano share this, and it's laughable.

#5  Can't do it.  Can't undersell.  Expectations at Indiana are what they are.  Every year.

#7, Yeah....this is right.  I don't care one bit if you're doing Navy Seal training or wearing the newest air-flow gas mask running hills or how loud and obnoxious he is.  This is a basketball team, and you're judged by wins and losses; not what you do in a new sand pit outside the building.

#8   YES!!!!!!!!!!!  Culture.  Expectations.  Do your damned homework on who you bring in here.

#7 is the dumbest take in the history of dumb takes.

I'm apparently in the minority view here. I think Sterling vastly over sells the importance of this but his premise is correct. I think staff on sidelines should have a certain level of professionalism. When the SC coach is getting warned by officials to calm down it's not a great look. Twitter quoted him dropping F bombs during the live game feed. Also not a good look. idk, I like his enthusiasm on one hand but it seemed over the top for a coach and unprofessional.

I guess I am the boring police though, so who knows.

I read it as to many people yelling orders and it is confusing the players. We need one or to calm calculated leaders on the bench and let the fans do the yelling clapping and cheering.

I don't know how to feel about that? Crean seems to like the group approach. I think if the staff has ONE VOICE and coincidental viewpoints it's okay. If they are getting mixed messages, which I am confident they are, it's a problem. Certain players go to certain coaches. Thomas Bryant's reaction towards the coaches is part of the one voice message. The head coach and leader should act professionally first, then the staff should follow suit.

Part of me thinks Duke's sideline staff would never act this way. The players can and should but the coaches should be on a different level.

You're entitled to it, and I understand it, but I just have a different view on it. I'm all for having as much fun as possible and being crazy. And why did he have to single out just Anderson? Like he said himself, all of the coaches are yelling and causing pure chaos on the bench and while Lyonel is *just* the SC coach, he seems to be kind of a hype man for the team as well. Idk...I just don't see the problem with it. All I see is Sterling looking for anything he can to pick at Crean, which he has done consistently since last season at least. As far the F-bomb thing goes, definitely not a great look but anyone that has played sports knows that a field of play is definitely not a PC place.

yeah, I think players can have fun and be crazy but coaches should work to keep those excited players focused on the task at hand. Coaches can go wild after a win, in the locker room. Otherwise I like them to be respectful while on the court.

I'm with Hova on this one, but agree the F-bombs should not be coming out of his mouth while on the sideline.

is it ok for the head coach to drop f bombs? Just curious

An hour leading up to the game the SC coach is warming them up and hyping them up. So I don't know. I never needed much help in that area but it doesn't bother me. The f bombs aren't a good look but it's not foreign to anyone who has played or sat close. Someone should keep a tally on Izzo during a game. I do wish it was one voice consistently instead of 4 voices every possession. Sterling hasn't liked Crean for a while so this isn't really shocking. I agree on some but am very against some on his list.
