Josh Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 What about Mark Few? Wasn't he runner-up after Sampson was fired? I'm jaded after watching Dan Monson fail at Minnesota. Quote
yogisballin Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 I think we were just going off the Seth Davis comment about being back next season. I think it's basically impossible to fire him if he wins the league. That would be 2 Big Ten titles in 4 seasons. Have u saw this team play? Win the league? Your kidding right? rick.eagan.75 1 Quote

Feathery Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Have u saw this team play? Win the league? Your kidding right? Lol. I was trying to make a case for Seth Davis comments. Lol. I agree there is a better chance that Nick Saban decides to coach basketball than Crean taking this team to a Big Ten title. Quote
brandct Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 I wanted him to be hired last year. Remember how optimistic most of was were when we signed bryant. Ugh those were the days I can honestly say that I was not optimistic at all with this signing because I knew the coach would be the same. Quote
Feathery Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Psst...Archie Miller had another big win yesterday. The guy isn't as known around here as Brad Stevens, but he is really, really good. Is he? Yeah he made an elite 8 but he has missed the dance 2 of his 4 years coaching. He has never won his conference either. He has finished 5th, 11th, 5th, and 2nd in conference over his career. He only has 4 years experience which is both good and bad. He has a lot to learn and hasn't peaked as a coach yet, which is a huge plus. It's also a huge negative for a school like IU, who needs a homerun hire and not a guy who still has to develop his craft. Josh 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 What about Mark Few? Wasn't he runner-up after Sampson was fired? Hard for me to see him making a move anywhere east of the Mississippi but I also would never have expected Shaka Smart to move from VCU to Texas. Interesting name, but we should be able to do better. I get what you are saying completely I have been against him for years but nobody thought it would be what it is right now Quote

Crean's hallmarks include teams that chronically underachieve. Quote

I think most level headed thinkers thought some improvements would be made. I understand what you are saying but this is another level Quote

I figured we would be 1-2 in Maui and all the other cupcakes I thought we would win. I thought we would actually play tougher then we did in Maui though. coonhounds 1 Quote

I think most level headed thinkers thought some improvements would be made. I understand what you are saying but this is another level The amazing thing about Crean is that his coaching has been getting progressively worse for a few years now. It started in 2012-13 when he ran that team into the ground, then comically underachieved the following season, engineered another epic collapse last season and now has a team that can't defend or rebound. I'm not sure if it's the pressure of the job getting to him, or our impatience and displeasure causing us to be more critical, but he's on a steady decline and has been for awhile. rick.eagan.75 and Alford Bailey 2 Quote
Stuhoo Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 They are in 7th place in the East and a game above being out of the playoffs all together. Yes it's early but let's not make it sound like Stevens is blowing the doors off in the NBA. The Celtics still don't have a superstar in a league dominated by superstars. Even with the draft picks it could be years before one turns into a star, if one does at all. Lebron and Curry aren't coming in this draft. There is nobody in college today that dominated like Steph Curry at Davidson. That's deceptive. The Celts are 13-9. They are only 1.5 games out of the conference lead, and one game out of ninth place. Usually anything over .500 makes the playoffs in the NBA when it's all said and done (I realize that's not currently the case), but it will probably end up that way this year too. The Celtics also have a boatload of high-end, superstar potential draft picks in the next few years. Quote

I agree 100% it isn't us this is the worst his team's have looked. It was obvious that 2012 and 13 season we were not playing to potential. This is the team has to much talent to look this bad imo Quote

Stuhoo Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Kevin McHale is in the Celtics organization now. Danny Ainge is crossing his t's. Kevin McHale turns 58 next week. There is no way in the world that Ainge wants anyone but Brad Stevens leading the Celtics. That's not to say Stevens couldn't prefer the Midwest or college, but it is very clear that the NBA perceives him as the next coming of Popovich. Josh Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 It's also a huge negative for a school like IU, who needs a homerun hire and not a guy who still has to develop his craft. I worry about this. Clearly you're right, IU isn't in a place where they can wait on a coach to develop. They need to go A+ or risk losing a portion of the fanbase. Quote
