Whoozhers Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 OG's Thunder Dunk was a thrill and hopefully signals he's back!About the only positive take away from this game. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Didn't he have a big dunk toward the end of the Illinois game? I don't think it will motivate him that much, but he really did not play well last night so I do not expect him to be that bad to often. Quote
coonhounds Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Og thunder dunk gets docked alot of points considering how he played all game and the fact maryland didn't want to foul and was not the worst thing in the world for them. I didn't get excited about a awesome play and instead just got pissed off. Kind of like down 15 against louisville but this one was worse lolSent from my SM-G920V using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
JSHoosier Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 One thing I'll mention, I am utterly sick of how much this team loves shooting the 3. Early in the shot clock, hand in the face, or both, doesn't matter they'll heave it up regardless; Blackmon took a few with a hand in a face (and a couple were early on top of that). Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Actually newkirk was the only one going to the rim. He was hesitant to shoot outside. A good thing. OG sat on the bottom of the 3pt line. He wasn't involved. We looked sick getting blocked so much! DD talked about our unforced brain fart turnovers about 6-7 a game. Damn it our boys aren't taught the fundamentals of the game. And there is NO excuse for it. Just a mix of thoughts. And very dissatisfied ! And it's not just a bad friggin hairday damn it. No way Knight could watch one of these games. No way!Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appBad day Nips?Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners ALASKA HOOSIER and Napleshoosier 2 Quote
Popular Post WayneFleekHoosier Posted January 11, 2017 Popular Post Posted January 11, 2017 FYI. When you know the losses are coming and that we aren't very good, the losses are easier to stomach. Alford Bailey Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 That was not a great Maryland team and still the only reason we were in it was because Blackmon got hot. Even when we are able to hang around like last night we have no go to guy in the last couple minutes. This will continue to cost us ball games. Quote

I know we have no go to guy... but isn't our best option JBJ in that situation... why not switch the play for JBJ instead of Rob (since Rob was having a not great shooting night)? Or as DD said all game Rob is damn near perfect from the right wing... so why run the last play for Rob to go to the Left wing.... Know the strengths and design a play to go to those strengths... I didn't read this whole thread, so maybe it has been mentioned, but the ending very much reminded me of the Nebraska game... a couple missed free throws, and a blown layup by JBJ and I knew the result would be the same at those moments. (not even to mention the stepping out of bounds before that) Quote

Hoosierfan2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Hey at least we threw a normal inbound pass and not a home run toss like usual. We got a shot off this time. Baby steps. GloryDays, reconmkd, HoosierAloha and 1 other 4 Quote

I figured we'd be right in the game not because we're good but Maryland is an average team. I thought we'd get beat because of some horrendous plays down the stretch. Why would the entire team run back after OG's huge dunk with 10 seconds left...?To put it lightly we,re a stupid basketball, undisciplined team. What was the thought there? We'll take a few more seconds to foul them, why even try to steal it to win the game. Time and score!! Why wasn't Crean screaming for a timeout when he saw his players trotting back and not going for a steal?! I think Turgeon's timeouts worked out in favor of IU rather than Tom "need to save these timeouts for the flight home" Crean. The collective bball IQ of this team and staff is sickening. recker222000, LIHoosier and ALASKA HOOSIER 3 Quote

Just imagine the out of bounds play drawn up when Crean finally uses those 800 timeouts he's saved. It'll be amazing; amazingly awful perhaps but still amazing. Quote

It goes to show how special the Zeller years were when IU was top 10 in PPP ATO. Quote

I would need to go back and watch it but why was option #1 not there? Maryland do a good job defending him? Bad play drawn up? Rush? And why was option #2 Rob on the left wing instead of the right (assuming DD was correct with his analysis of Rob's shot percentage). Quote

They ran a flare screen for him to fade to the right corner for an open 3, but it appeared JBJ was too wide to start so the entire thing got clogged up along the sideline leaving Newkirk no room to make the pass. That's when he swung the ball to the left side for the RoJo option. Quote
brandct Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 The play was set up for Blackmon it just broke down and Rojo was the next best option. He got a good look at the basket. Stuhoo 1 Quote
