WayneFleekHoosier Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 So I guess this won't help our stellar recruiting streak!IPFW will get a major boost though. Bryson Scott and Konchar were best players on the court in THAT game. Their center worked Bryant a fair share of times too and stuffed him at rim several times. Defenserocks28 Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 For me, this isn't about one game. The same problems that kill every IU Crean Coached team reared their ugly heads...again...just as they have at IU for almost a decade now. I'm just tired of seeing turnstile defense, a lack of half court offense, substitutions patterns making little sense, being unable to take advantage of size down low, and no flow on offense unless we are running. I'm sure we'll get it together, be top 3 in BIG, and then, get destroyed in the Sweet Sixteen. If people are happy about that, then so be it. So this is completely anecdotal, but I feel applies to quite a bit of our fan base. Myself and about 10 other buddies used to watch IU basketball religiously. Through the Mike Davis years, to Sampson, through most of the Crean era. Of those 10, only one bothers watching the games anymore. And no, it's not about getting older and a lack of free time. It's that, they are tired of watching poorly coached teams. It's the same issues every year, and when you know the script and how the story will end, there's not much reason to go along for the journey. And that sucks. People have been talking about MSU. Yes, they have losses and don't look good at the moment, but it's an Izzo team and you know that team will come together and grow and potentially make the Final Four. And that'll be a fun journey for their fans to take. Frustrating at times, but who knows how it'll end. For us, given almost a decade of Crean, get ready for a Sweet Sixteen loss involving poor defense, random acts of jumping with the ball and no passing lanes, turning it over 20+ times a game, and awkward lineups. I felt this way til the second half of last year. I felt he improved as a coach second half of last season. I could become a hater again but last night I saw guys getting outplayed at every position on both ends. Cant blame last night on Crean IMO. The move to zone was great. The players were just going through the motions and blew way to many opportunities. ALASKA HOOSIER, Defenserocks28 and Banksyrules 3 Quote
Hoosierfan31 Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Blackmon cannot run the point. That's our biggest problem. Can't have someone that only passes when he isn't open to shoot, regularly misses out on easy assists. So when he has a cold shooting night he pretty much is worthless. Not really on team Blackmon but i can acknowledge that he can be a big contributor..except when he isn't. This year will still be "just fine" but it could have been fantastic. Next year? "Just fine"? What does that even mean.? We won't lose to the IPFWs of the world? We might be middle of pack? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners This. Just fine sounds like a cop out. Just fine is another sweet sixteen loss. Best Crean team ever. Everybody is saying we will be just fine next year. How can they be the same. Because from what I saw out of Rojo Morgan and Newkirk next year is going to rough beyond our darkest fears. Quote

Trish Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 I honestly still can't believe it. I mean IPFW is good, they should win their league and make the dance, no question about it. It just amazes me how Crean didn't make a single adjustment in terms of our offense. It was not working at all in the first half and they still continue to run it. We need Sets. We need to get James open, run him off three screens in a row if you have to. We need to get the ball into the paint more. We can't rely on one simple motion offense the whole game. We need sets. We also need a leader. We need a Sheehey, or a Yogi. Someone who's going to get on someone who is not doing what their suppose to. Josh isn't a PG. He's more of a hustle player, that's about it. Small sample size, but that's all i see from him so far. Rojo isn't aggressive enough and is not a PG. We need a PG, BADLY. I'm glad Crean took responsibility of last night's L. IMO it was mostly on his shoulders with his funky line ups, lack of offensive adjustments, and lack of defensive adjustments. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

They have also been in a final four since I started shaving everyday. Izzo has proven he can do the job. This isn't the status quo for MSU. This is very much the same team we have seen for years now. First day exit from the BTT and maybe a sweet sixteen in the big dance. I'm not going to bump the topic but I'm back to fire Crean. His recruiting is down and if he couldnt build a consistent team these last 2 years he's just not going to. Has he ever won 3 straight neutral site games at Indiana. Has he ever done it at all without Dwayne Wade? If he can't win 3 I doubt he's ever going to win 6 Defenserocks28 1 Quote
Alford Bailey Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 I wondering if I watched a different game than some of you. OG was sick.Scott was in JBJs head all night. TB was getting pushed around. We missed numerous layups and free throws. Guys were getting the ball stole from them 30 ft from the basket. IPFW beat us to the spot ALL NIGHT! How is this on Crean? thebigweave, HoosierAloha, Hoosierfan2017 and 1 other 4 Quote

So, if you don't perform at your job, that which you've been trained and educated on, you're not liable for any mistakes or anything, and your boss should be held accountable or fired instead of you? Come on. Yes, some if this is on Crean with the lack of in-game adjustments last night, but he's not physically out there. Fulkme15 1 Quote

Its like the old saying, you can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink. I've always said I dont think Crean is a very good coach and I still to this day believe that to be true, but nothing in the game was on Crean. IPFW came out and punched our guys in the mouth and we didnt punch back. IPFW had nothing to lose and they played like it while our guys played like it was a forgone conclusion that we would win. **** happens, we'll be fine and regroup. This team's ceiling is through the roof. I believe we will have many more successes than bad days this year. pappy1865 1 Quote
