The Wadester goes down to an Irish team still licking their wounds from Tuesdays 44 point shellacking. That should be like a quad 6 loss

  4. It had to be rough on the team and coaching staff the way we started out but they didn't throw up their hands and say woe is us. They found a way to put it together and I'm very happy for them.

  9. I went to the game. Crowd wasn't nearly big enough to suit me, but the enthusiasm today was TOP NOTCH!. Felt like there were about twice as many people yelling loudly as compared to what my eyes saw. Outstanding way to finish the regular season, now let's go far in the tournament (maybe TWO tournaments!)

  10. Showed up in a big way today. Shay with 29. Caffey with 18. Beau with 18. Maya with 15. Went 5-2 in the B1G after a 0-10 start. Nice rebound. Next stop: Indianapolis.

  11. 4.47 for Omar. IU fans have packed the open seating areas at Lucas Oil today.

  12. Yeah, there are legitimate and specific reasons why 3 coaches and at least 1 player did not follow DeVries here. All the “concern” I see about that is pretty much nonsense.

You mean other than him being an Indiana native, Indiana University graduate, who considered other similar Midwest programs before ultimately accepting a job in our conference?

  18. Not quite but it would jump IU up to last 4 byes territory

  20. Why? DeVries hired him for the West Virginia job. I’m guessing when he hired him for his associate head coaching position that he had no idea a year later he was going to leave for IU. I’m sure Frazier was pissed he left after 1 year and left for a school he didn’t care for. Still not following why this would be a red flag for DeVries

So many kids that it’s been so much fun to root for. Sarratt coming from nowhere. Roarke playing through the knee. There’s a million of them. It continues to be kind of incomprehensible what’s gone on here.

Agree. I think most of why no one followed CDD is pretty explainable, as you just laid out. I should have been more clear, but in that post I'm saying by selecting CDD as the coach IU would have known not many people were coming with him. Other candidates could have brought more players and staff. I'm sure there is a reason. Scott must have thought CDD building a new staff was better than the candidates who would bring a staff. And perhaps selecting a coach who would bring players isn't worth it since players are only around a short while. I can only guess. It is just different from the Cig approach.

  31. A play from Legacy when he was still being recruited: He’s in the left corner with the ball and tries to throw a skip pass to the right wing. A kid reads it and picks it off on the run with his momentum going to the other end and nobody at the top of the key. Clean path to the basket. Carr runs him down from the opposite corner and blocks his layup. He made up 20’ on a kid who caught it on the move. Should have been impossible and he did it easily. I watched that over and over. Will forget my kids’ names on my deathbed and will remember that play.

  32. When Barry Alvarez was at UW he had almost complete control because he had successfully hired for the football program time and again and basketball was in a similar spot. Things like hockey and volleyball were in good spots too. Technically, he answered to the president, but he had the complete confidence of the donors and alumni and so there was very little control anyone could exert over him as far as athletics went. Dolson can get to that level if he figures basketball out.

  37. Unbalanced schedules even in small conferences stink. Miami didn’t have to for to Akron and play. They better meet up in the MAC tourney because we deserve those teams playing. Akron only has 1 loss in conference and I think they are the better team

  42. I'm gonna go out on a limb and declare today's second game a win. We led 8-1 after 6 complete and have scored 7 more in our 7th. Aubree Hooks pitched 4.2 innings giving up 3 hits, 1 BB and Elon's lone run. Ella Troutt has pitched 1.1 innings of no-hit ball. Aly VanBrandt has had an unbelievable day. 2 HRs in this Elon game with 7 RBIs. Women have pounded out 12 hits and still batting in the 7th with the bases loaded. FINAL SCORE 20-1. Great start to the weekend for the IU women.

  43. The more I look back on this game, it's amazing how devastating this actually was for Miami. The Mighty U was playing great. All their Hall of Fame former players and celeb fans were on the sideline. Playing Indiana -- who cares how good they're supposed to be, it's Indiana. The game is in their home stadium in their city. It was all coming together. Then IU fans take over with 2/3 the crowd -- that's emasculating. After zero points in the first half, Miami threw some decent counterpunches, but they got handled and lost. It was not in fact "About the U." It was All About the Hoo-Hoo-Hoosiers. Incredible. That really was a tough situation for us, and we played just "okay" and won.

  44. Agree Reneau would be a huge help offensively, but he wouldn't do much for our defense / rebounding problems. Think about TJD or even Kel'el Ware under Devries on this roster... that would be a fun team.

  45. Agreed. I do get excited for the challenging and meaningful games. I don't get quite as stressed as my wife. She is normally a very controlled and caring individual. Wow! Envision banshee screeches. I still yearn to have IU in the NCAAT every year. And I don't want IU to just barely qualify resulting is a bottom seed. This bubble crap really ticks me off. All of us IU fans could see this coming. Rolling the dice on transfers for a completely new starting or rotational players is not ideal. Hence the flawed roster. Lack of starting the offense, lack of go-to-players, slow feet...ugh. To top it off is a new coach. New to the B1G. New program. But lots of NIL. And hired without any significant lead time to fill the roster and staff. Why our coach stuck with certain players in many games without finding someone who would provide something different, I wonder... So, imho, my vote on the coach is held in abeyance...certainly until the season is over. And probably he should be given another year before we really can evaluate his mettle. No doubt if he continues to be middle-of-the-pack as a coach...year after year...I may have to perform a stupid and futile gesture.
