  1. Perfect storm for a new coach to take over a program. Payne was so bad that anything the next coach did was going to be an improvement and with the Acc being historically down they took advantage. In the non con they went 0-4 against teams that made the tourney. 2-0 against first 4 out teams. in acc play they only had to play the teams from the acc that made the tourney once during the regular season all at home. They had no road games against tourney quality teams in acc play. Finished 18-2 in conference play (16 wins against non tourney teams). 3 top 50 wins in conference (Home-Clemson, UNC) Away-SMU. They were lucky committee viewed Unc as a tourney team (last team in) or they would have had even less tourney quality wins. Louisville went 18-2 in the ACC last year and got an 8 seed in the tourney. That should show you how awful the acc actually was last year Acc had 10 teams NET 100 or more B1G had 1 (Washington-109 which would of been better then everyone of the 10 Acc teams

  2. Didn’t make Rothstein’s top 45. This roster construction is polarizing. Hoping we can be the “surprise” team this year. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

  4. From 247, it's apparently the plan that Jackson will be his high school team's PG next season. At 6'7" it will be interesting to see how that works out for both the school and for Jackson's development.

    2025 Boys AAU Season

Don’t know anything past what’s been reported. The football stuff makes perfect sense. If he was 6’5”-6’6”instead of 6’9’-6’10” he’d have NFL left tackle prospect written all over him. Between how well he moves for a kid that size, how good his hands are in traffic and how hard he competes, on 2 watchings became a pretty big fan. Kid’s motor ran hot every second he was on the floor. Would take him and Alexander-Moody without a thought and then see what you can get done with some of the higher rated kids.

  6. That block that got called a foul right after the pacers used their challenge. It’s just disgusting. If the refs are missing so many calls that you win 2 challenges and still need more maybe theirs something wrong with the refs

  9. Raby and Andershock did a video podcast last night after Fri. and Sat. games were over. They mentioned a number of IU targets they've talked to said they are hearing not just from the @$$'t coaches but from DDV himself. He keeps that kind of attitude towards recruiting and his golf handicap will skyrocket! (dws at our former coach)

  10. Here's the stats for the players who've received offers from DDV from this past weekend's EYBL event in Kansas City. Most have 11 games of cumulative stats you can review. The next major events for the EYBL, 3SSB and UAA circuits won't take place until July. There will be lots of other AAU action in the interim but player stats from those events will be on a hit and miss basis. I might have to mute the broadcast for the next game. Reggie was unbearable when the Knicks made their run. I expect that from Kevin Harlan, but not from Reggie. It's almost like he was egging them on!

  19. He's planning to visit all 4 of his finalists in June then decide on June 25th. The order will be St. Joseph's, IU (13-14), Texas, then VCU. If it happens on the planned date, it will be the day after the VCU visit ends.

  20. I think it is too early to say we have concerns but also too early to say we finally have a professional college basketball staff. This staff does not really differ from Crean’s or Miller’s. I am hopeful that we will finally have a staff that builds a more consistent and higher end winner but I had hope with all the others too.

  21. This is coming from an anon poster who generally believes in firing coaches quickly. I'm not in the need to give a coach four to five years camp. To level set: CDD has been here for two (2) months. Not only has IUBB generally been bad for 25 years, CDD inherited Mike Woodson's four alarm tire fire of a program where almost all the staff and players were unusable and had to go. The only useful thing CDD inherited was one (1) 4* high school recruit who committed despite Mike. Even with our resources, no staff and no players is a tough starting point. I think a turnaround can happen pretty quickly and it should be expected, but it will take some time when a coach inherits a four alarm tire fire. There is just no way around it. I don't mind folks being critical when we get some concrete signs of trouble, but it's been two (2) months. Give me a break. We have a whole new staff and roster -- we're going to have to wait and see how this goes because we just don't know right now. The goal in Year 1 is not to be top-10 or whatever -- the goal is put out Woody's four alarm tire fire and establish a culture and foundation we can build from for years to come. Think big picture. In my view, a reasonable Year 1 of culture and foundation building includes playing modern/smart/tough basketball, making the tournament, signing very good high players again, and then doing well in the spring 2026 portal. All of this will set us up for Year 2 when expectations can ramp up. What I cannot see a reasonable case for in Year 1, and especially not two (2) months in, is comparing ourselves to programs that have been healthy and successful for many years or decades. Such as Duke. It's a free country, but if you're expecting this in Year 1 you're going to be miserable. I don't think a turnaround in the portal era should take long, but it's also not going to happen over night either. I might suggest watching this program play some games and compete in high school recruiting battles. If we play bad bball and miss the tourney and recruit poorly, okay hit the panic button. I probably will. But until then, getting worried seems pretty pointless. And hey, CDD has built programs before. His staff looks pretty good -- we've got offensive minds and a coach from a rich top-10 program liked what he saw at IU and joined us. CDD teams defend reasonably well. There is real talent on this team, notably shooting. This could turn out pretty good... we'll have to wait and see.

  23. What is so appealing about Maryland? Is it Under Armor? We keep hearing about how we can't get who we want because we haven't been good recently, but when is the last time Maryland was a national threat? They never seem to have trouble getting dudes.

  24. Watching posters crash out 2mos into year one is wild. It’d be almost excusable if we didn’t watch a midmajor football coach with a bunch midmajor guys get to a 12th place finish (or better). The funny thing is, if we suck next year how’s that any different than the last 25 years? Just relax and see what the new coach sucks we’ll know in a couple years and we can sit back and ***** for 3 years until he’s fired. IU basketball at its finest. No need to get a head start on the misery tho.

  25. RIP Jim Irsay. Dude obviously had some pretty pronounced demons, but he always genuinely seemed to love the city and after seeing Stan Kroenke up close I really grew to appreciate that Jim cared more about winning than about maximizing the value of his team as a commodity.
