  1. Again, you're fighting a battle at a war that isn't even happening right now. The core of your argument is that the program isn't where it needs to be, and should be. We actually all agree on that. But once again, the discussion was not about what our social media presence is, how positive or negative it is, etc. You've been arguing about not being on ESPN, instead being on FS1 a lot, and how our national perception for recruiting is affected by not being on ESPN. USPS made some counterpoints, then you argue that recruits aren't flipping through channels, they are getting their info from social media. I point out that you're contradicting yourself, and you think the discussion is about the quality of our social media presence. It's incredible.

  3. You see, you're actually asking the wrong question. The question is, if this ends up on ESPN, does being on ESPN even matter anymore? The answer is no, b/c at that point we will have had exactly ZERO GAMES BROADCAST LIVE ON TIK TOK!! Even if we had games on tik tok it wouldn't matter b/c the real issue is that Archie's polos are always 2 sizes too big. Even the right sized polo won't dig is out of the hole he's put us in b/c it comes down to his waffles needing to be purple. And we all know recruits don't want anything to do with purple waffles. So to answer your question, the answer is clearly false.

  16. Good ****, we’ll argue over anything when one possesses a strong opinion about something, regardless of right or wrong. The ******* point was there are plenty of reasons Archie could/should be fired. It’s ******* hilarious that you knew the ones who would be bitching and moaning about even mentioning Archie and tournament appearance in the same post. The fact is the resume of the team Archie was coaching last season was good enough to have made the tournament. AND it’s still fair to think Archie should be let go. cRiTIcAl ******* tHiNKinG IS hARd! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  18. Let's get some different discussion going, eh? Earlier this year USPS posted the chart showing that Indiana has the dubious distinction of being the best team at creating excellent looks, and then missing the shot. Look at us. Just dominating the Bad Shooters, Good Shots quadrant. Elite. USPS also posted this graphic demonstrating how many high percentage shots we're taking. Again, very high. Last I heard Trayce was still leading CBB in attempted free throws, which has mostly been this team's MO for awhile. Wear them down inside. Again, higher percentage of made free throws would likely result in a few extra wins a year. Life is pain. To my eyes, this offense is much, much better conceived than in years past. Much faster passes that actually create space for good shots. Trayce and Race both end up clearing out underneath, popping up to the free throw line, quick passes in then back out. Rob is being far less conservative with his passing while maintaining his excellent TO percentage. Galloway shows some excellent passing ability. Really, the entire thing is working better. Is it personnel? Scheme? Probably both. Tony Adragna has been making the excellent breakdown videos, but I think he is very obviously a fan and needs space from the team after bad losses. So while he had been posting some great videos earlier (if you haven't seen, he created a website now rather than just a youtube channel, iufilmroom.com), he hasn't posted since the Maryland game. Still he did post earlier on some new offensive wrinkles this year: Sooo, it's not as spelled out as normal, but you can notice some things. First, we're no longer driving into clogged lanes (or our own players) as he pointed out last year. I'll be honest, I'm not advanced enough to get all of his notations without him spelling it out for me, and why it is significant compared to what we were doing. So Coach Adragna's last breakdown was the home game against Maryland. The good Xs and Os stuff doesn't start until around 5:20, when he delves into the hard hedge, and our 2nd half adjustment away from it. I'll let the remainder of the video speak for itself: Coach Adragna makes the same point we've all noticed, Trayce's play can be affected by how he's playing. Yes, it's circular. But that's basically what he is, like a positive feedback loop where the better he's playing, the better he plays. Like a turbo. You get it. We all see it. What I want to point out beyond that is that Trayce is very, very good. He's the best player Archie's had, and it isn't that close. I often check in on the PORPUGATU! stat from Bart Torvik, which is a player's value compared to a replacement at the same usage. Here's his explanation: https://www.bigtengeeks.com/new-stat-porpagatu/ And here's our roster today: You'll notice that the PRPG! stat is that second column, Trayce at a 5.1. This image is of the entire season. FWIW, if you check the same for just B1G games, it is mostly the same, with Al making the biggest jump up to 3.1. For those curious, Parker Stewart was a 3.5 PRPG! last year for Tennessee Martin. He'd be our 2nd best player on this team. For sake of comparison, here's the team at the end of last year. Really just Trayce out there: Here's 2019, a year that was basically Juwan and Romeo and role players: Aaaand for good measure, 2018. Wooo, boy. We were bad. Ranked #71 at the end of the year by Torvik: The point I'm making is that the quality of player we're putting out there is appreciably higher than what we've had in the past. Without Joey, we only have 10 guys to choose from. Not necessarily deep at any position, and yet we are able to fill most of our minutes with guys that are better at playing basketball than their counterparts. In looking at the stat, just assume that the darker shade of green, the better you are than the average player and thus creating an advantage. I've followed this for awhile and the truly dangerous teams will have at least 4 studs, with then a few others in that 2.5 range. Some quick examples. Iowa, much more than just Garza: The Texas team that I kinda enjoyed watching, even as they dismantled us: Kentucky: The question has always been, how much does the scheme affect a player's PRPG! line, putting him in better position to improve his stat. You know, it's something, and I don't know. Wisconsin, for example, has no business being as good as they are. But, it's a place to start. I do not mean this to be taking a stand pro-Archie or otherwise. But, our scheme is better, our players are better, and there's evidence that the scheme isn't as rigid as we've feared. We are not seeing great returns in the W/L column, but we're also the best 7 loss team by a mile. Kenpom ranks us at 23, the next closest 7 loss team is Penn State at #43. We're not going to get AP rankings losing the way we do, and I understand we need the wins bad in the NET. Ideally over the remainder of the regular season water will find its level and we'll get more wins with a team that on paper isn't as bad as it appears.

  19. More realistic than Brad. The good news? In my mind's eye picture of Bruce when he comes to IU, he is raising TWO FISTS, not merely one. It's Bruce, but twice as 'fisty'!

  20. I’ve started to dive into the team sheets the last couple days. Definitely going to be an interesting year and I look forward to the committee releasing their top 16 in Feb. I will post some blind resumes later but for know a fun observation. As of today a road win at Abilene Christian, Kent St or Marshall (Q1 road wins)would be considered a better win by the committee then winning at Duke, Kentucky or Michigan St (Q2 road wins). This will probably change as the year goes on but still an interesting observation

  24. I understand kids just fine. Honestly recruits could care less what college basketball game is on each night. You are right they are more likely to watch nba or playing video games or they are worried more about their own season.

  25. I will take watching them play in the tournament regardless of how much the program is struggling and I really don’t care how that looks on national television. But I also don’t worry myself or lose my mind thinking of what the national perception is of iu. For me a loss is a loss. Losing on espn compared to BTN or FS1 is still just a loss. I will let others worry more about the right way for IU to win or lose or what channel each should happen on

  26. Never needs to be brought up for you and you don’t care that IU should of made the tournament. Meaningless taking point for you. If someone wants to bring up the “context” of last season and mention that IU should of made the tournament who am I or you to tell them they can’t. Again just because you don’t want to talk about it maybe some do. A struggling program was set to make the tournament last year so of course some people are going to want to bring it up

  28. For sure UK needed that game, but if it had been played their chances of winning were so so small. I though Kentucky played pretty well against Bama this week. And, Bama was terrible—they couldn’t hit an open 3 at all. Bama still won by 11. As Bill Parcells said “You are what your record says you are.” And UK is 5-10.

  29. Kentucky needed that game. Without it they have 0 chance at an at-large bid this year. With a win against Texas they would of had a fighting chance of getting one if they would of gotten hot. Small chance but still something to play for now they will have to win the sec tourney if that still happens

They will finish their season 21-2 or 20-3 at worst and the sectional match up with Blackford should be must watch. Brown finished with 45 on 50% shooting from three.

  43. Besides the Texas game and Stanford game I’m guessing you are meaning 0. The other Maui game was on the deuce as well as the Florida St game. So 4 of IU’s 7 non conference games were on espn networks. Not like it really matters what channel it’s on. Basketball fans are going to find the games regardless of what channel they are on. Basketball junkies will watch IU games. Plenty of college basketball nerds I interact with on Twitter watch about every college game every night.

  45. Season opener last night for Aire (pronounced I-ray) and Bishop McNamara and it was a bummer as they were manhandled 104 - 73 by Paul VI. Aire finished with 17 pts. on 7-11 FG; 3-7 FT; 8 reb; 2 stls; 5 blks; 1 TO. He has a slender build just slightly bigger than Edey at PUke. Ran the floor very well but had trouble hanging on to the ball and finishing at the rim. Should have had a lot more rebounds but allowed himself to get boxed out too many times.

  50. My intention was never to dig up any discussion about whether Archie is worthy of continuing to be the coach and debating his resume. That's all been covered plenty so I was definitely not trying to start that debate. It was about evaluating the one single point of NCAA tourney appearances (while again, I'm acknowledging there is plenty of other things he should be judged on). If you are prepared to say that his evaluation on whether he should be fired or not should include NCAA tournament appearances, and you're assessment is that he should be judged as being 0-3 on NCAA tournament appearances, you are not applying the proper context and critical thinking necessary.
