  3. This may seem like a Captain Obvious statement, but both Leal and Galloway are really good when they are healthy. With a wrist injury Galloway didn’t shoot all that well for awhile; he seems to be back to 100%. Leal is currently dealing with less than 100% knees, and that limits his output this month a bit. We should be thrilled with either, or better yet, both.

  4. Until a commitment, the staff will NOT stop watching this team. Word from Bloomington this past weekend is that CAM is really high on Kaufman.

  5. Luke’s fam spoke highly of him ...sounds like a great kid...I think that’s a really good team in general they’ve moved to an 8th place ranking nationally

  8. I think that might have been a bit of it. But let’s be honest. Cal whiffed on like 3 guys had he landed any of them doubtful he would go as hard on Brooks. Crean screwing us over by getting his highest ranked recruit ever.

  10. I have never had any ill will towards Romeo at all. Just wish his and our season would have gone a little/lot better. No one really knows why things collapsed for a stretch there. Maybe just confidence. Anyway, Romeo will be my modern Eric Gordon. I continue to root for him, claim him as a Hoosier, and be proud when he does well. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  16. It could be but I am still convinced we were in a really good spot until we had our terrible mid season losing streak. That opened the door for Cal to come closer. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  17. A. J. Griffin is a kid we've watched but not sure how much real interest we have. He was a member of the USA FIBA America's Mens U16 team which earned its sixth straight gold medal beating Canada 94-71 in Brazil. Griffin scored 18 points in the championship game.

  20. Saturday final: Indiana 120, Kentucky 74 TJD the leading scorer with 17 but he definitely needs to work on his FT shooting. Friday's final: Indiana 97, Kentucky 64 Per the record book, the 79-point margin over the two games is the most combined margin of victory in the Indiana-Kentucky series that dates back to 1939.

  27. Wonder how they think that is working out for them now?! By my unofficial count Cal has recruited 37 other wings since Brooks committed. My response? Sure it's petty, but I don't want ANYONE to succeed at Kentucky. Made your slimy choice, now stew in it Keion.

  28. Not talking about Kooper Jacobi. And yes FK1, you are correct. Kaufman family big on IU.

  30. Jake‏Verified account @jakeweingarten Five-star junior Isaiah Jackson has left Spire Institute and enrolled at Waterford Mott High School in Michigan, a source told @Stockrisers. He left a public school in Michigan last fall to transfer to Spire. Unusual to see a kid return to a public school from one of the basketball factories. From the school's website: "Waterford Mott High School, a Michigan Blue Ribbon Exemplary School, provides students with a rigorous academic environment that encourages students to become critical thinkers and problem solvers. Our students are challenged to excel and have a proud tradition of succeeding that goal. More than 92% of Waterford graduates go on to college each year with impressive results. Many earn numerous college scholarships to assist in their post-secondary education pursuits. Mott High School is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and hold state accreditation." The school is located near Pontiac, MI.

  31. It was to me and I second his answer. I don’t want to act like I know either of them but from what I have seen, read and been told, Galloway is charlie hustle, the AJ Moye/Dane Fife offspring. That doesn’t mean Leal doesn’t hustle/make plays but it doesn’t mean Hornsby didn’t but when I separate Moye and Fife I think you know how they were a bit more gritty than the next guy Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  38. Nice background article on Luke Goode - yes, I know it's from the Laffyette newspaper but despite that, it's still a good read. Interesting to learn that as it now stands PUke will only have 2 scholarships available for the loaded '21 Indiana class. Also interesting to learn that Goode's father played football for IU as a defensive back and wide receiver. https://www.jconline.com/story/sports/college/purdue/basketball/2019/06/07/homesteads-luke-goode-touch-purdue-recruiting-picks-up/1384272001/

  40. Shouldn’t be a problem for the Fightin’ Holtmanns, with him being the reincarnation of James Naismith himself and all. Should plow through that stretch undefeated. NCAA will probably give him a few extra wins just for being the savior of basketball. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  41. What? This isn't true. Over the past four years we've played UNC once and Duke three times. Florida State went 29-8 last year and finished 4th in the ACC. This has much, much more to do with switching up the matchups than it does them "realizing we're not on the level of the big programs anymore". We already play Louisville, and we've been matched up with two of the other marquee ACC teams each of the past four years. It's not like they put us against someone like Wake Forest.

  42. Um, okay. None of them have offered him in June before he starts his senior year of high school. We'll see who offers him before he makes his final decision. My guess, he'll be playing high level D1 basketball, even if it's not at IU. I won't be surprised if "idk why Archie would want this kid" turns into "yet another miss by Archie, no momentum" if he goes elsewhere.

  43. Why should we go full court press on Leal and Galloway over Cross? I don't know why Cross shot up the rankings, but given that the people putting together these lists do it for a living, I'm guessing there's more to it than being "the best player on a crappy AAU team". Your opinion before was based off his ranking, but now that his ranking has improved 100+ spots, it doesn't mean much? Why not? This isn't Archie pulling a Crean and offering a Tim Priller type of player. Cross is a solid player who brings some of the personality traits, such as toughness, that we've been wanting in IU basketball players. Rankings aren't everything, and just because he's top 100 now doesn't guarantee he's going to be a good college player, but it does show that he's not a recruit Archie is reaching for because he's getting desperate.

  44. The optics look bad to a bunch of people who don't know anything. I'm not taking a shot at anyone in particular, but nobody on this board really knows how these recruits are performing in terms of rising and falling throughout the year until these lists come out, other than some random anecdotes we hear from the Evan Daniels and Brian Snows of the world. It looked desperate to you and others because you were putting stock into static recruiting rankings. You looked at Morton as top 50 and Cross outside the top 200, but Archie and his staff are obviously constantly evaluating potential players. By the time they offered Cross and Morton committed to Purdue, their evaluations had gone in completely different directions. Also, I'm not saying that we should put full faith in recruiting rankings, but Cross is ranked significantly higher than Leal or Galloway. Why would Archie prioritize those guys and then see if he can find a fit for the best player of the 3?
    1 point
  45. Well, that kid outside of the top 200 has moved up to 89 while the player we lost to our arch rival dropped to 121. Archie isn't getting desperate. He knows what he's doing.

  47. I'm an ESPN plus subscriber, I only have it because I love their NFL draft coverage. They did a write up about Romeo and other draft prospects. Here is what they had to say: The fourth all-time leading scorer in Indiana history, Langford stayed home to play at tiny New Albany high school before committing to Indiana. He was a USA Basketball staple who was a consensus top-six recruit. Langford started off his freshman season in impressive fashion but was slowed by a torn ligament in the thumb of his shooting hand in late November. He elected to play through it, which likely prevented scouts from seeing the full extent of his potential. Langford was still named second-team all-conference and a member of the Big Ten's all-freshman team, but he wasn't able to guide Indiana to the NCAA tournament. -- Givony Strengths Has prototypical physical tools for an NBA wing at over 6-foot-6 in shoes, with a strong frame and a 6-11 wingspan. Smooth and fluid athlete who is at his best with the ball in his hands and shows significant potential pushing ahead in transition and operating out of pick-and-roll. Has strong footwork and body control. Changes speeds naturally with the ball. Good vision and creativity finding teammates. Offensive instincts and overall upside suggests he can develop into a player capable of shouldering a significant load as a shot-creator, which is difficult to find in this draft class, especially at his size. Shows enough flashes as a defender, passer, rebounder, finisher and shot-maker to leave plenty of room for optimism regarding how his game will continue to round out over time. Has both a relatively high ceiling and floor. Improvement areas Shot only 27 percent from beyond the arc as a freshman, partially due to the hand injury but wasn't known as a great shooter coming into college. Could stand to tweak his mechanics and release point. Had very little shooting around him at Indiana, which made it easy for opposing defenses to load up on him as the season moved on. Faced a significant learning curve on the defensive end in college. Has significant potential on that end with his length, quickness and solid instincts, but will have to improve his intensity level, particularly off the ball. Has a casual demeanor that works against him at times. Uneven, injury-plagued freshman season left scouts with more questions than answers. Projected role: Big playmaker
