Devin Robinson and James Blackmon Set to Announce

All_Hoosiers
  • Top Hoosier targets Devin Robinson and James Blackmon will announce their college choices this Wednesday and Thursday respectively. See Ranger's official predictions.

Devin Robinson

2014 F Devin Robinson will announce his college decision this Wednesday. He's considering Oklahoma State, Indiana, Notre Dame, and Florida. He's taken officials to each school.

The late-bloomer burst onto the scene this past year, and Indiana ramped up their recruitment this summer.

Eric Bossi calls him "a big wing with loads of offensive ability." He also adds that Robinson needs strength and aggressiveness.

Ranger's Prediction

At one point, Indiana was the heavy favorite to land Robinson. Recently, rumors have swirled that he will be heading to Florida. The last ten picks on 247Sports' Crystal Ball are Florida, and the Gators hold 55% of the predictions.

Indiana has a lot of forwards, some arguably better than Robinson, and the Hoosiers just added F Max Hoetzel. Florida has more room for Robinson, and therefore present a better opportunity for immediate playing time. Couple that with the recent rumors and I predict Devin Robinson will be a Gator and choose Florida.

James Blackmon

Former Indiana commit James Blackmon will announce his decision on ESPNU Thursday. He will choose between Michigan, Indiana, and Kentucky.

After Blackmon de-committed, he said Indiana still had a shot to land him. Although UK and UM are presumed favorites, Indiana does seem to still have a shot.

Blackmon is considered the best shooter in the 2014 class, and should be an elite scorer in college.

Ranger's Prediction

Ever since Blackmon de-committed, UK has been the heavy favorite to land him. 247Sports Crystal Ball is 98% Kentucky.

Recently, rumors have been brought up alluding that Blackmon may be souring on the Wildcats, while his Indiana visit went very well.

I said Blackmon would wind back up at IU this summer. Even though everything seems to point to Blackmon attending UK, I'm very stubborn. Purely a gut call: I predict James Blackmon will be a Hoosier.

So you're saying you'd run like a chicken at competition. Don't want you on the team then.

That is an extremely ignorant way to look at it. If my goal

Is the nba I'm going to do whatever I need to do to get there, if you say you wouldn't we both know that's a lie. If I can choose to battle for a job I may get in 2-3 yrs then go pro or make a quick stop for a season then go pro I'm taking the fastest route to my end goal. You may say it's being a chicken but I call it being smart.

Over recruiting typically means getting pushed to the back-burner by a better future teammate. Seems like you might be referring to zealous, non-stop recruiting as in "recruiting too much".

Mike Davis, would have waited for Robinson, missed him, and subsequently miss Hoetzel as well, then would scramble to get Grey-Ashely or Cem Dinc.

We don't have enough open spots so I would have been fine with waiting. Normally I wouldn't but we are currently in a situation to where we don't need much our last class was that stacked in my opinion.

Don't take me wrong I see what you're saying and normally I'd agree 100% but this season we are in a completely different position.

Did we accomplish anything with hurling insults? I disagree with you, you aren't going to change my mind by telling me my way of thinking is extremely ignorant. You just ended the discussion. You are no longer worth my time.

how's it not? The position was already pretty filled then getting another wing player to commit while trying for a better one. If I was devin that's sure how I'd see it.

I think it's safe to say that Crean knows more about the situation than we did. It's quite possible, that Robinson told Crean he wasn't going to IU a week ago. If Crean thought adding Hoetzel would hurt Robinson, it wouldn't have happened unless Crean wanted Hoetzel more.

Crazy how much changed in between his IU visit and his decision. He must have really been Wow'd by his Florida visit. There was tons of positive talk after the IU visit. I'm very surprised.

Best of luck to him though.

I didn't "hurl" an insult. Saying your thinking was ignorant for calling me a chicken based on how I'd see it if I was getting recruited was no worse than you calling me a chicken in the first place. It's fine the discussion was going no where and it was obvious you weren't interested in an actual discussion. It seemed more or less telling me I'm wrong for not agreeing was the intent. There are multiple views on a single topic next time try being more open to them. Good day sir.

That's very possible and if so then I'm completely wrong lol. Just trying to get another albeit unpopular viewpoint on it out there.

It may be just a hell of a coincidence, but I'm dressing up as an ignorant, insult-hurling chicken for Halloween tomorrow!

You mean you have to dress up for that?

It's always a possibility. That's the beauty of recruiting, we will never know!

I would hope Robinson wasn't scared away by Hoetzel. That would show me he doesn't like competition. Anyway, I'll gladly take our options at the three and four spot next year over Devin Robinson. He was the one I wanted least, and I'm not shook up over his decision.

Sorry, a little off topic from where things are going.  I looked around to get a feel for what people were saying in regards to Blackmon.  Everyone is still very confident in Kentucky.  Goodman and Meyer both say no chance for anyone else but Kentucky.

Goodman did his thing on Twitter.  My thing I don't get is if Booker is going to UK, I thought that Blackmon didn't want to compete with him.  They are feeling really good about Booker still.  I guess I can understand why.  They get literally everyone they throw money at they recruit.

I have never heard of a recruit picking out a t-shirt of the school they commit to until today.

Atleast it wasn't pants?   :bad:
