(2017) PF Clifton Moore Jr. to IU

Recommended Posts

Not much great video on him. Looks lengthy which is good.

The first step in this process is getting him here in June and adding 10-15 pounds on him. He struggled to get good positioning inside, some more meat on him should help him with that.

From the sounds of it he will be a stretch 4 that won't see the paint unless the lane is open.

Stretch 4s still play in the paint. Look at someone like C WAt. He was a stretch 4 at IU and played some in the paint and on the perimeter.
Just look at Malik Williams, who we were recruiting and who Moore put up 20 & 12 against, he plays inside and out. I expect the same from Moore.

I think he'll be a different kind of stretch four though. CWat had some games, as an upperclassman, where he punished teams in the paint. CWat was an excellent shooter though. Moore will probably be a shooter but more of a driver at the four and less of a back to the basket. I'm imaging a hybrid of Troy and CWat as a stretch four.

Ive seen four (very short) highlight clips of him and everything Ive seen from him , the majority of his offense work comes from starting on the block or top of the free throw lane. Not a lot of dribble drive, but mostly back to the basket.
I think the majority of us are seeing him being a skinny kid and all of a sudden thinking he is going to be stationed out on the wing. But thats not what Im seeing on these short videos.
Granted the competition level will be different but it seems like his go to move is either on the block or near the top of the free throw lane, backing his man down and shooting a jump shot over him.
It will be interested to get more video, especially as his high school season starts in the next few months

I've been going off quotes from him and his strengths. You alluded to the competition level not being great and I would imagine that it works there but not at the B1G level.

I would love to see us operate in the high low this season and more in the future. (Pun intended) I won't be surprised if he posts some against smaller fours and takes big fours out to the arc.

I'm not sold on him being the "big" answer but I think he's a nice piece that can contribute to a winning program.

Sometimes I think the weight/bulk concerns are way overhyped.

Kevin Durant anyone? Anthony Davis. And about 20 other examples. He can have a role even if lanky if skills are sufficient.

True. But i will say KD has gotten so much bigger compared to when he got into the League.

Brandon Ingram played his first game last night and he was getting bullied out there by second unit guys.

Yep and this kids listed weight is 195. I don't see him going over 220 as a Frosh. If all his strength is is in his legs he could spend time on the block. But I don't see that at all.

Brandon Ingram trumps them all. All skin and bones.
