Wow. One of the worst P5 fooball programs in the country went out and made a bold move to get better. Fred and IU would never have the balls or commitment to make a move like this. That is why we stink. He's 65 years old. If IU had hired him you'd ***** about us hiring old coaches no one else wanted. JHoosier914, HoosierAloha, ThompsonHoosier and 7 others 10 Quote

Time will tell if this is a good move. Last time they hired a blue blood cast off it didn't end well for KU (1-18 Big 12 record). thebigweave and IUsafety 2 Quote

Shut up IU football board troll everywhere there’s a message board IU football related....if IU hired him you would’ve found something to piss and moan about. Find another school to root aka whine and cry about. Lol what a cry baby you are. The guy won mostly on pure talent. Quote

We've got a coordinator masquerading as a head coach because our genius AD couldn't be bothered to do his friggin' job. Wanting IU to do better than that doesn't make him a cry baby; frankly, wanting IU to do better than that is an extremely low bar. Iugradman, Hoosierfan2017, lucel15 and 1 other 3 1 Quote
LIHoosier Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Its been only 6 minutes, but it seems Maryland woke up for O$U Quote
Hoosierfan2017 Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Would Les Miles have came to IU? Who knows. But if you never ask then the answer is no every time. Sometimes you have to swing for the fences. We had momentum with Coach Wilson and then Glass fired him. Instead of looking for a home run hire, he bunted. It seems like the #1 thing people mention in favor of Coach Allen is "he'll stay if he has success here". Which, sure, that's nice. But not looking for the best candidate you can find because you're worried he'll leave if he has success is very stupid. You're putting yourself behind the 8 ball before you even start. If a coach is good enough here to get picked off then he'd have had more success than IU football has had in a long time. Iugradman 1 Quote
TheWatShot Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Miles has always needed a ton of talent to win, and he runs an archaic offense. I think he'd struggle to get players here. Besides, we already went the LSU reject route once. Our next hire doesn't have to be a big name, it just needs to be someone who can coach. Quote
TheWatShot Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Maryland trolling OSU early on. Scored to start the game and then recovered an onside kick before fumbling it back to the Buckeyes. The Terps actually got up 17-3 before missing a field goal and then giving up a long touchdown pass. They're doing it right in terms of taking risks and playing with nothing to lose, but you can't screw up the little things. Quote

Les miles was a dying breed and there’s a reason he was let go from LSU. And I believe most HCs masquerade for a little while since I mean you do have to move up the chain from coordinator just saying that’s how coaching works. He’s a proven DC. He’s turned around defenses. He could’ve gone a few years as a DC probably but when are we as IU fans going to realize you can’t just keep hiring coaches that will use this as a stepping stone. That’s what Wilson was working towards. Then where would we have been oh probably hiring a proven sunbelt coach. Hire a guy that knows how to coach...head coaching is a learning curve....just like any industry you have to adjust and looks like he will be handing over his DC duties and just focusing on HC duties. Hey thanks for playing tho Quote
HoosierAloha Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Well, you’re full of ****. No one else wanted Dinardo, Lynch, Wilson or Allen as a head coach either. Kansas is also making a major investment in facilities so they are taking football seriously. Are they making a major investment in facilities to catch-up or get ahead. I believe IU invested heavily in facilities but that was only to get to the very bottom of Big Ten standards. I love two way streets. Yeah considering it’s all he whines about lol. I’m sorry I was not blown away by les miles and name a coach that was up and coming that our fans would have jumped for joy about.......if we hired a non power 5 coach we would’ve said oh boy yay. And then whined it’s not a home run hire. We are going to go in and lure someone away from their low tier power 5 job. Or as IU fans you jump for joy and praise the man when he’s a DC who turned around Kevin Wilson’s awful awful defense and then when he’s hired and he’s adjusting to a HC job the same people come back around and say he’s a HS HC. Get out of here. Oh by the way if you argue Wilson recruited tons of players and was good.....thank him for the holes on both lines and the lack of recruiting. Tom Allen is actually addressing the needs of the team and trying to build an actual roster. thebigweave 1 Quote

All I said is we have a sub par coach because our should've-been-fired AD was too lazy to even pretend to make it look like he was doing his job. Hoosierfan2017 and Iugradman 2 Quote
