LamarCheeks Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 Just read an old story that was a link in a piece about the former LSU coach. Makes it easy to see why Brian Kelly is so disliked. When Kelly was at Central Michigan, a pair of grad assistants were under the impression he had invited them to his Christmas party. Instead, they were there to shovel snow and park cars (think "Coming to America"). Who were those grad assistants? Matt LaFleur -- current Green Bay Packers head coach. Robert Saleh -- current San Francisco 49ers DC and former New York Jets HC. Both vowed if they ever became head coaches, they'd never be such dicks to their staffs. Read earlier that apparently he accepted the LSU job while on a recruiting visit. He stepped away to take the call then returned to gorge himself on the mother’s cooking before leaving. Apparently the news had leaked by the time the family checked their phones after the visit. Sounds like the kid wasn’t then recruited to LSU ALASKA HOOSIER and MemphisHoosier 2 Quote

I'm sure LaFluer's driveway could use shoveling up in Green Bay this winter. He should offer Kelly a job. ALASKA HOOSIER, str8baller, LamarCheeks and 2 others 2 3 Quote

I thought maybe that one was satire since it is exactly the same as Coming to America, but hilarious nonetheless. There are quite a few former players, coaches, and media members dancing on Kelly’s grave on twitter/X pretty much confirming what everyone else already knew: he’s a grade A ******. Quote

It would disrupt the current team they are on, and they wouldn't be able to leave and join the other team till the season is over anyway. They are still in school, so in theory they need to finish the semester first. It would be awesome to see some of those PSU and LSU players head to Bloomington though this Spring. Quote

iu2win Posted October 29, 2025 Posted October 29, 2025 Knee jerk reaction to the second article listed is the danger of tying it to tuition. Is my thinking to shallow or wouldn't this simply incentivize universities to increase tuition in order to increase what they can pay their coach??? Are they also going to cap tuition or is that already a thing??? jermhoosierfan and BtownStrength 2 Quote

The President appoints the commissioner of a new college sports association? That won't become political at all. These colleges don't have to fire these coaches and pay that amount of buyouts, but they do it when they know the price. It isn't like the actual university is actually paying the buyout anyway which this Congressman should know. Pagoda and Home Jersey 2 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted October 29, 2025 Posted October 29, 2025 Not exactly a vote of confidence is it? Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry just said at a press conference that LSU athletic director Scott Woodward will NOT be hiring LSU’s next football coach. It will be LSU’s Board of Supervisors. Quote

LSU should be looking at cautionary tales from IUBB and other situations like that. Boards aren’t good at hiring coaches. Either are most Presidents and donors. If you don’t trust your AD then you need a new AD. But this ain’t our problem thankfully!!! Hollywood Mike Miranda 1 Quote

Rick Bozich - For all the talk about firing coaches and paying buyouts, AD Scott Woodward hired Jimbo Fisher at A&M and Brian Kelly at LSU and was nationally acclaimed because “he always gets his man.” Who has handed out two worse contracts than that? Maybe this is why Woodward isn't getting to make the next LSU hire. Pagoda 1 Quote
