Won’t happen for a slew of reasons, but would love to see Herta get a shot with Haas F1. Calling Haas an “American” F1 team is absurd and Nikita Mazepin brings too much sponsorship to go anywhere, despite looking pretty clearly overmatched. But Herta might be the perfect American addition to that series. He’s certainly the only American with enough name recognition to move the needle in any way for F1 over here. There aren’t 10 American race fans who’ve heard of Logan Sargeant or any of the other American kids racing in Europe.

Haas just has so many problems. I'd be willing to bet they aren't around in next 5 years. Also their livery snuck in a Russian flag on the front wing this year. lol

You may well be right about that. They’re putting all of their development resources into the ‘22 chassis. If it’s not at least a mid-pack car I would think they would be up for sale at a minimum. It’s a shame. I love F1 and have always wanted to see a legit American team.

Well Gene Haas didn't want to put more of his own money into the team and that's why they had to get the Russian sponsorship in the first place. At the very least, I expect the team to change hands at some point.

Scott Dixon has to be the favorite today, starting from pole with a great season so far.  He's also a great guy, he moved to St Petersburg for a while after Dan Wheldon died so he could help his widow.  I'd also like to see Helio get his 4th, I think it would be great press for Indycar.

Here's to a great race today
