I'm not kidding the ROI is too low for 5 stars 

Can't stop trying though in reality if kids are expressing interest.

What we need to figure out is how to close these interested kids. Unless they are just using our program name to bump their own hype.

There isn't much point freaking about some crystal ball predictions this far out. We should not stop recruiting 5 stars just because we've had some bad luck in 2017.

Didn't expect five-star junior Darius Garland to be the volume shooter in his matchup with five-star Alabama signee Collin Sexton, but Garland had to shoulder a bigger offensive load. Sexton was more efficient in this one, though. Went 9-for-17 from the field, while Garland was 7-for-25.

Hawks Drop Brentwood Academy 56-52 In Hoops Thriller

In a short two-game series between Hamilton Heights and Brentwood Academy, one thing has become evident. It’s going to be a close game.

Playing before a packed house of hundreds of people at Brentwood Academy in Nashville on Wednesday night, including Kentucky coach John Calipari, the visiting Hawks rallied late and warded off the Eagles’ final push to post a 56-52 victory.

The Eagles’ Darius Garland, the No. 12-rated 2018 prospect in the country according to ESPN 60, hit a bucket to trim the Hawks’ lead to 54-52 with 18 seconds remaining. Brentwood missed three straight shots, but Garland drove the lane for his clutch layup.

Hamilton Heights’ C.J. Massengill missed the front end of a one-and-one with 10.4 seconds on the clock. Brentwood’s Cam Johnson received a pass from Tate Pierson and raced down court where he missed a left-handed layup.

Jordan Rawls made two free throws with under one second left to seal the victory for the Hawks (13-4).

Therren Shelton-Szmidt paced the Hawks with 22 points. Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 14 points and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Kentucky signee Calipari was paying the closest attention to, tossed in 13 points.

Garland scored a game-high 26 points. Szmidt and Walker, both of whom defended the talented point guard during the game, both fouled out late. Szmidt has signed with Middle Tennessee State.

I guess we fall in the 'everyone' category.  Clearly not high enough on his list that our name immediately came to mind.  :-(         Hope we're making a really serious push on Robert Phinisee.

Players like Darius Garland always have high expectations when coming into the spring, and so far that hasn't been a problem for the five-star floor general. Garland was downright dominant at times on Saturday at the NY2LA Swish N Dish and showed why he is one of the most highly recruited prospects in the entire country.
About what he is working to improve on this spring, Garland said, "I am working to become more of a leader. I am really excited about the summer. I know I have to continue to get stronger and just improve on everything."

AnalysisOne of the premier lead guard prospects in the 2018 class, Garland possesses good size, length and quickness for the position. Garland plays at a good pace and changes his speeds well. Garland is a quality passer that can whip pinpoint passes with either hand. Although young, Garland has already shown a strong ability to operate in pick and roll situations. The 6-foot-2 guard makes good decision coming off screens and is a threat to find an open teammate, step behind a screen and bury a shot or make a play from the mid-range area. One of Garland's biggest strengths is his ability to make shots from three. He has deep range on his shot, good shot preparation and a fairly quick release. He's also developed a comfort level from mid-range, where he's capable of connecting on pull-ups or dropping in floaters. Defensively, he's made great strides already. He slides his feet well, is quick laterally and has tremendous instincts on that end of the floor.

Schools such as Duke, Indiana, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and others have offered Garland a scholarship, and Garland says he has an idea of how he wants to move ahead in his recruitment.
"I am just taking my time and letting it all come to me," he explained. "Hopefully I can make my decision soon, but I don’t know yet for sure when I will decide."
One school that has been linked with Garland quite a bit is Duke. Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski has been active recruiting Garland and he is very interested in the Blue Devils program.
"I love Coach K and the entire coaching staff," said Garland of Duke. "It is a really good school and a place I am really excited about. I hope to take an official visit there soon and get to know the coaching staff better."
Close to home is Vanderbilt, and Bryce Drew and his staff are doing everything they can to keep Garland from leaving the city.
"I have had a relationship with Coach Drew since he was at Valpo," noted Garland. "I am very excited about the entire coaching staff there and the job they are doing, so it is good to get to know them better."
Also the Indiana Hoosiers were making Garland a priority. There has been a recent coaching change in Bloomington, and Garland is intrigued with how that will impact his recruitment.
"I haven’t heard from Coach (Archie) Miller yet," noted Garland. "I do like Indiana and I am curious to see how that goes with them. With my dad being from the state and how passionate their fan base is it is a school I'm interested in."
While Garland doesn't seem to want to wait too long to make a commitment, he does seem to be in no rush to end his recruitment until gaining as much information as needed about the schools on his list.
