The cliff jumpers and cry babies can only blame themselves. I’ve seen poems, short stories, hell, even think I saw a limerick on why Indiana would end up with Garland and Langford. This is recruiting, not fantasy land. Archie did everything he could but it was too little, too late for IU in this case. I’d urge people to not make the same mistake with Langford.

I'd prefer that people continue to make the same mistakes they always have made. The highs and lows are much more entertaining!

That is where the disappointment lies today.  After the games this weekend and the miss on Garland, it is clear that extended patience will be required, as we are now looking at a methodical rebuild where we may not be anything more than a bubble team (if that) for the first 3-4 years (see Tony Bennett's trajectory at UVa, for example).  We have plenty of talent coming in next year, but a pair of top 10 players would have allowed us to bypass the foundation building and see some quick results.  Perhaps this will be better in the long run, but the process will likely be more painful than we had hoped.

In all honesty I wish him nothing but good luck. ESPN did what they always do and that's to make themselves look good and to try to get a bump in ratings.

I'm not mad at the guys getting info. I believe they were strung along. My problem is letting myself waist hours of my time day after day checking for the latest BS that keeps me hanging on to something my gut is telling me different.  My family deserves my time and I fell for the same thing that happened with the Billy Donovan saga. It won't happen again!

I am staggered by the few people on here who deny everything others say that isn't what they want to hear.   
One thing to consider; and I know some will think I'm nuts.  Others will get it.   Robert Phinisee is a point guard and he is ready to play at the college level.  He does not need to develop; he does not need time to learn how to play at the college level.  Perhaps Garland didn't want to split time or compete with another freshman point guard?    Is Garland more athletic?  Bigger?  Yep.  Would he have been a better fit than Phinisee?  That's not so easy.
As much as I want every great recruit we can get, losing Garland doesn't affect me in the least.  We got a kid we can lean on for 4 years; and he understands where he's going to school.  I truly hope every Indiana fan will now get behind who we DO have and not worry about who we don't.   Garland is going to a terrific academic institution.  Bryce Drew is a decent man and a good coach.  Wish him well.  Indiana is in good hands.

Darius didn't come here and he would have had a much bigger fan base and way more publicity here but instead did what his heart thought was right and stayed home to be with his family and friends. 

Now instead of crying over spilt milk, im going to continue to support who we have on our team and players that we know are coming in. Look forward to watching them grow as players and young men. We have a solid base and a great coaching staff and look forward to seeing this team rise. On to Seton Hall Wednesday.

Ramey, maybe Tyger Campbell, Simons, maybe Shittu, grad guys, first semester transfers we will have more guys than 4 even if we dont get Romeo. I've seen Ramey play at least a half dozen times. Forget his ranking. He is much closer to RP than Garland.

Some people get emotionally invested. It is what it is. At the end of the day, not one person on this board accomplished or failed anything today due to Garland's decision. That's reality. I made a bad guess on what he was going to do. I guarantee you I won't lose sleep over it.

We will be fine. We are 2 games into what has been a tough season so far, but I have no doubt this program is in better shape than it's been in quite a while. The fact that Archie is in on any of these guys is pretty amazing. Let's all wait until we are 10-15 games into the season and see if we feel any better. The future is bright.

Year 3 we will be competing at a high level. We will get at least one of TJD, Brooks, Hurt, Watford, Anthony and all the other kids we are in a great spot with at the moment. No need to think we're gonna suck for the next few years. I expect us to make the tourney next year. Our 4 man class is underrated because they all committed months ago so the excitement over each has went away, but it will go right back up once they hit B Town. These 4 are awesome kids and players. Be patient. Honestly if ANY kid isn't fully committed to being a Hoosier than I don't want them. Archie won't go after scrubs so whoever we get, will make a impact for us at some point.

Our class is really good, plus we have a top 100 player already on campus, redshirted, learning the system. He will be a sophomore with freshman eligibility. I would maybe expect him to be the best freshman next year.

Exactly my thoughts. I could see us being a bubble team next year but nowhere near challenging for a big ten title.

Just finishing this statement for you. This board is for laughs, some interesting discussions based on our favorite team, and sometimes a few nuggets of insider information, which we just find out a little earlier than the rest of the public. This is just supposed to be a fun forum for fandom. It's fun to see all the different opinions and mindsets out there.
