We Are The Champions IU vs Iowa Post Game Thread

With the injuries that kept two starters out...and the foul trouble that kept others out....you have to give credit to Crean's recruiting.  He made this roster deeper than any other Big Ten team, filled the spots with winners and competitors...

To beat a team of this quality without Rojo speaks volumes as to how close-knit this group of guys must be. The way they pull together will be remembered, and people on Btown Banners will someday say they wish the current team could pull together like that '16 championship team did.

Interesting, we should really sit RoJo again even if he could play against Maryland. And Morgan's shoulder didn't look very promising. Could be a tough short-handed home finale. But my money is on us.

I think we are set to be very good for the next few years. i Love the job Crean is doing!

Crean's comments tonight in the post game with Fisch signaled a different, perhaps seasoned coach to me than what I've been hearing heretofore. He was confident thru those last minutes. He said he and the team had the belief & resiliency and that the team is a product of hard work and continued improvement. Finally, in Zen-like style said he likes to study other leaders particularly in sports.

I am not ready to build a Crean statue or offer an extension but you have to call it the way it is and the fact is that there have been MULTIPLE positive changes in the past 2/3 months. Far more than I thought possible (and I am very happy to be wrong). Good road win against a formerly top 4 team that desperately needed a win on their senior night.

On another post I mentioned multiple improvements without giving details.
One of the improvements, and to your point, is his behavior the last few minute of tight games. In the past 2/3 months I have noticed that he does not appear to be "freaking out" when the game gets tight. Seems more in control/confident. Let's face it.....in the past he would call time out during a tight game and look like he was going to stroke out. Good to see the change.

Also.... depth and past reasonable concerns about putting a team together????? Aside from Yogi going out we do not see much decline with a lot of the subs. Injuries, fouls trouble etc....not good but this year we can deal with it. Very fun to watch.

What a season.  What a win.  Winning at Michigan and Iowa should silence most of the schedule critics, even if we did have it easy.

I am so happy for the kids.  And honestly, for Crean.  That guy was one foot out the door at Thanksgiving.  Good for him.

The one red flag?  Even the TV guys acknowledged it.   Iowa  took away our transition in the second half....and our offense completely stagnated.  The formula to beat Indiana is there.  But I was so impressed with our toughness, our depth...   Really happy for Zeisloft and Yogi.  And Max.  This team's fun...maddening at times.  But fun.

One critique. I still think we need to do more in the half court to get shooters open.  Zeisloft is a great shooter.  4-5 tonight.  We didn't set one screen to get him open in the half court.   Need to be better than 10-20 from the FT line, too.  But we are the champions.  NICE!!
