(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

Recommended Posts

That was arguably the biggest recruiting miss in the history of IU basketball after Larry Bird of course.  I still have nightmares of Sean Kline starting at center.

Uhhh....well...I guess you did say "arguably"

I know we're making jokes here... But I think we're crossing a line. The pictures, the (less than flattering) psychoanalysis. Keep this relationship out of it. Keep this girl out of it.
Any way we could get this deleted, and get back to trashing Kansas?

If we are keeping the young lady out of this, then why is her picture the one heading this thread?

Deshaun Thomas - Freshman in High School Gary Harris - November Zak Irvin - July 31st

Trey Lyles - November 5th

Kyle Guy - October 20th

Kris Wilkes - November 13th

All those players were Mr. Indiana. They all left the state for college ball. All announced before or during their senior season. I don't know if they received any backlash, but i don't remember hearing about it.

Do any of you guys peruse the Indiana Facebook fan pages? I ask only because the recent discussions here have centered around the “backlash” argument, which is taken as gospel on Facebook. The latest theory on this particular Facebook page says that the reason Langford has declined to commit, is not only fear of backlash but, that he would almost certainly not win the Indiana Mr. Basketball award, if he had committed elsewhere. This theory was not only well received, it was gaining ground! I normally would not be caught dead posting on this (Facebook) page as I find it to be the largest group of idiots ever assembled in one place. In this situation however, I could not help myself. I posted the information exactly as stated in the above post and found myself outnumbered by even dumber responses. I even went a step further in regard to Gary Harris, stating that he not only won the award after committing to MSU in November, but beat out Indiana commit, Yogi freakin Ferrell for the award. Admittedly, this stumped many. Fact is it was just me arguing against, well me and one other dude. The point I’m trying to get to here is that the theories on our sight may be tedious but, I assure you it can get Way, Way, Wayyyyyyyy worse.

I try to avoid Facebook discussions at all costs when it comes to sports. Facebook brings out the worst in people. Check out this gem obtained from the Indiana basketball Facebook page, on a post showing IU's current NBA players:

"Weird who recruited all these NBA players? Oh yea the coach we kicked out for having a subpar injury riddled season.. He was a great recruiter and even better man.. put us back on the map.. and now were back out of the conversation again"

It’s full of some wild opinions. Maybe I was a little hard on the Facebook groups, some of the discussions are fine but many posters are either way behind the information curve or just plain troll happy. I guess I just think it would be better if some of their posters would spend less time on posting and more time on worthwhile things like spelling, and figuring out how to disengage the all-caps function.

I try not to be a grammar Nazi, but some of the stuff I see just makes me shake my head and wonder how those people ever get anywhere. It's like they take pride in being stupid.

I just had a guy say Darius and Romeo are best friends, he's definitely never coming to IU and they've been playing AAU together for years now. None of those things are true yet he stated them all as fact. Some IU fans are a special kind of stupid.

Which group? I'm a member of some, but rarely go there except to get a laugh.
