(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

Recommended Posts

Fair enough on the FBI portion. It speaks to a lot of top players, but doesn’t say all. I would venture to say there are players less willing to play that game as well as schools/agents until this gets settled. It was more of a Wild West in the 80s and 90s. Since the one and done rule went into effect it really came back. I wouldn’t say all programs are clean, ever. But should we be cynical for every top player without looking at the obvious?

UL was there because they were his hometown school that was a top school with a hall of fame coach. If he asked for money would he have got it there? I think so. Did they have to offer him money to go there? I don’t think so. It’s convenient for him and his family if he went there. Would he have got extra benefits there not related to his recruitment? Probably as well. I think there is a group of people here casting a wide net that doesn’t fit. If it’s just money as the determining factor he will end up in Lawrence. They are having a down year and are gearing up for a title run. They have more to gain than anyone. If he goes there, ok I would have question.

UL would have been a fantastic "business decision" for Romeo. A lot easier to look business decision-y.

Comment of the year (in reference to the ongoing corruption investigation) goes to the guy who said "Who honestly believed that an inner city kid with the IQ of a walnut could get into a prestigious college and wear $600 sneakers without corruption." Game. Set. Match.

For some reason this post reminded me of the Eric Bledsoe ordeal at pUKe.  I get pUKe isn't exactly a prestigious school, far from it, I'd be shocked if Bledsoe could spell ACT if you spotted him the A and the T there's no chance he could pass one.

Not to mention him calling people morons. I think he is in high school so can give him a pass

Nope I’m not in high school, I’m just sick and tired of watching a disgruntled group of grown adults freak out over what could very well be nothing, and drag a kids name through the mud because he might pick Vandy. People on the outside talk all the time about how crazy Indiana’s fan base is, and sometimes they talk about it in a negative way, there’s some of your negatives right there. I was fired up reading some of those.

I don't recall Wilkes leading us on. I think he liked iu he just didnt want to play for crean. He even made comments kind of stating that. My guess is with Archie he would have picked iu. Probably Scruggs as well.

Exactly and some people clearly can’t rap their heads around the fact that we are talking about a completely unbiased family and kid here trying to make a decision best for them, and while I am full on the train of IU is the best decision for him on paper much like the rest of you, that may not be what he believes and that’s what truly matters

How do you know how old the posters are? Why do you waste time reading this thread when it has been obvious for some time people are crazy in it? What are people on the outside? Rival fans or just lame people who dont even follow sports and would not understand?

I doubt all these tortured explanations about how the Langfords "know" this or Darius Garland is "manipulating" that have any connection to reality. We don't know so we fill in the blanks with fanciful details.

Clearly some of us have lost perspective and gone off on conspiracy tirades that make the Garlands and Langfords some kind of Super villains bent on crushing our hopes and dreams.

On the other hand, going to Vandy could only be a "business decision" in the most literal sense, IMO. Could Drew & Vandy be clean and  have just caught lightening in a bottle with the super-class of a lifetime, purely by hard-work and good fortune? Sure. I doubt it though, but nothing I can do about it either way.

I want Romeo to go to IU because I think that what is best for IU, for me and probably him too. If he chooses IU it will be great. If he doesn't then I won't "wish him well", frankly I hope he turns out to be a bust and disappears from view. I admit that is a little mean-spirited and immature, but I don't care. There is nothing particularly rational about my emotional investment in college kids I don't know playing a game, is there?

No it literally says “none of the kids are free”

From an unnamed source that threw out multiple generalizations leading up to that. I would be willing to wager that unnamed source that isn’t true. If he were dumb enough to take me up on that I would say Tim Priller. If he wants 5* I would say Cody Zeller. Generalizations are dangerous and are what started this dialogue. Even if it’s 95% it’s still not all and it is nowhere close to that.

I just hope romeo visits iu one more time with family. That is all i want i think we have a chance if that happens

That's why I thought the bringing the whole family to vandy wasn't a good sign. If he doesn't visit iu with the family again I think the writings on the wall imo. Hope I'm wrong.

Listening to that kid talk was painful. I keep waiting for him to one day publish an inspirational book about how he managed to go from failing Algebra 1 multiple times to acing the rest of his Algebra courses while taking them out of sequence.

If it is truly a business decision, and this recruitment is not shady, then how could romeo not want to go to IU. Miller>Drew and in my opinion that really isnt even a close race. Vandy will have garland, but IU will have a supporting cast that is stronger than vandy. The fan base for IU is better, assembly hall is much better than any Commodore arena, facilities are better, asst coaches are better and I think you would get more national exposure with IU. That said, its just a one year rental....I personally would rather have another phinissee than a Langford at this point. Also, some of you guys are nuts. IU will not be a make or break situation based on this kids choice. Maybe he just doesn't want the extra attention associated with IU. Either way, Miller will get the recruits he needs to have success. Look at what he is doing with recruits that are not even his.

It'd be a short book, "Ask John Calipari", and probably misspelled.

Ugh, just typing his name makes me sick.
