(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

So, that is the point, like I said earlier. There is no reason or benefit to committing now, even if he knows it’s Indiana. There’s a story to build.

I don't look at it from this angle because I think there is huge benefit to committing now, and only if it's Indiana.  There is no benefit to committing to Vandy or KU now.  There is all kinds of benefit to committing to Indiana now.

There is nothing that will make me believe his decision is "definitely" made at this point; which is the argument.  He may be leaning.  There may be a favorite.  I would buy any of that.  I don't buy for one second his decision is "definite" and the school is Indiana

So what are the benefits? You haven’t named a single one. Also, how many Zion Williamson articles have you seen since he committed? Probably none. Romeo Langford articles have greatly increased. Why? He’s the highest rated uncommitted recruit in 2018. Meaning, Romeo Langford = clicks. You’re a smart guy, think about it some more. Sentimental value of having a “victory lap” or relieving yourself of pressure is a purely subjective argument.

You don't think Zion Williamson is relieved because he isn't receiving the boatloads of attention right now?   I sure as hell would be.  I believe this is as simple as you and I are approaching it from a different angle.  Your argument seems to be (please correct me if I'm wrong) that this is about "clicks" and attention.  He's a McDonald's all American.  He will be an NBA first round pick.  He will make millions of dollars.  His future (assuming he stays healthy) is determined.  I don't think he cares how many "clicks" he gets.   I don't believe he gets his jollies holding a decision hostage while he enjoys his social media attention.

Benefits?  The biggest one is the elimination of the daily (hourly) distractions that he's dealing with.  The very reason why is because he's uncommitted.  That was a reason Williamson said he announced when he did.  To eliminate the distractions; and I think he is completely relieved.  I think if he committed to Indiana, he could focus more on his team now, and still maintain the absolute passion IU fans show him every single day and obviously every game.  His commitment to Indiana now would multiply that by 100-fold, and if he is concerned with "clicks," he'd sure get them from Indiana fans all over the country

Williamson would have too, had he chosen South Carolina.   Part of the reason he's not getting as much attention now is he didn't choose his home state school (or one of them). If Romeo had definitely chosen IU at this point, can you imagine the attention he'd get?  You were around when Cody Zeller committed.  I remember clearly when Jared Jeffries committed.   Hell, when Damon Bailey committed, ESPN came to Indiana regularly.  I think you and I approach this thing from different angles.  Simple as that.  And I don't believe - this is the point of the debate - he has made (and certainly don't think he's let anyone know) a "definite" decision.

If everything he's doing is as calculated as some say; why would he leak a "definite" decision before announcing it?  Why would some random guy on a chat board know of anything "definite?"  It makes no sense to me.

I stopped at the first answer.  We agree. It's not certain.  Good grief, have you read the thread?   A guy on some site said "it's definite."  I said I don't believe that at all.   You seem to agree.  Conversation over.  Nothing else needs to be said.   Sheesh.

If you stopped at the first answer then you don't realize I addressed everything else mentioned. Again.. no reason for him to commit now. It's added pressure for no reason.

Why is it added pressure? I think the longer he waits, the more pressure there is. If he commits now, he has less fans begging him to go to their school, less texts from coaches and being recruited, and getting his decision out of the way so he can focus on his season and what he wants to accomplish.

I’ve never understood how some believe there are more distractions and pressure AFTER a kid commits. That’s just not true at all.

Yes there is.. those autograph lines probably triple if he commits. I'm saying if he commits to IU. Then he's got every single fan at those games, the IU fans, expecting him to continuously do something great. There's no chance I'd commit during the season if I were him.

I know no one with any insight, and I have no intel, but I feel pretty good about our chances.

2 things on my mind .....yes the sweatshirt “vandy” thing seems strange. As someone pointed out on twitter, it very well could have been an “r” for “randy”. I’m not going to fret any further about it. Doesn’t make sense to keep everything so tight lipped and then do that.

He doesn’t have to stay and sign all of this stuff, 99% of which is IU fans and IU hats and shirts etc. Why put yourself through that distraction and hearing all these people say I’d sure like you to go to IU if it’s Vandy or Kansas?

Yeah the lines for autographs will be longer and that’s about it. Where is the pressure coming from? Everyone in attendance already expects him to do great things without being committed.

Don't read into the Vandy thing. Tim said in an interview that Romeo is great about giving into the fans' goofy signature/picture requests.

Heard third-hand from another message board, from a guy who knows a guy who knows the kid who got the "Vandy" signature: Apparently the kid is a Kentucky fan, and wanted to be a troll because he didn't like seeing all the IU stuff being signed.

True or not,  like you, I assume Romeo was just honoring a specific request from someone waiting in line. It doesn't need to mean anything more than that.

And FrankieVision is all in for clicks by running that few seconds of footage.

The whole point of the debate began and ended with whether or not anything is definite.  You confirmed it's not.  Done.

Apparently, Romeo and his family have an open invite to attend the Illinois game per Rabjohns. It will be interesting to see if he attends.

If he does, then it’s pretty clear what Romeo is doing. Not to sound dumb, but is a free invite an NCAA violation? Lol
