Morgan is awesome, and if he returns, which I expect, but can't count on he should be playing the 4 against most high majors. Smith is more of a 3 that can somewhat play the 4. I guess Forrester can play the 5? Maybe? He's a freshman, and thin, and doesn't have phenomenal size or strength. So, yeah, we have a several guys that can play the 4 but no real, true center. If we were a shooting team that could hit 3s at a crazy high rate we could try to outshot teams as they pound the paint. Maybe that'll work. Popular Post Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted February 2, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 2, 2018 We need wings & shooters more than a big. I don't get the pessimistic talk about how good we'd be with Romeo. Him & Juwan would be two of the top 5 players in the B1G. If Rob is half decent & consistent at that I'm fairly confident. The B1G will be wide open next season. We've seen what Archie can do with the guys now on defense & turnovers mostly. Give him Romeo & Juwan and more of his guys then I wouldn't put it out of the question that we could reach a final four. MIUGA, IUsafety, CR3AMnCR1MS0N and 5 others 8 Quote

Hoosier Guy Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Yeah the guards would be Phinisee, Romeo, Devonte and Durham. That’s not too much. I used to be of the mindset that IU didn’t need guards in the 2019 class. With how Devonte and Durham have played, that opinion has changed. But talking about next year, guards are more a priority than bigs dbmhoosier 1 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Vijay Blackmon. We all seem to overlook the fact he'll be eligible next season. I never saw many of his hs games so I can't comment on just what we might expect from him but can he give us some badly needed 3-pt. shooting? Hoosierfan2017 1 Quote

He could maybe play in a pinch if injuries or depth issues become a problem. He isn't near the shooter though that James or Jalen are though so I don't think he would help that much with that. Quote
Myrmidon76 Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 I gotta ask. If bigs (as a group) aren't a concern, then at least the 5 has to be. There's no guarantee that Davis will even be ready to go in October and even if he was, his foul troubles really hinder our defense inside. I agree that guards are the priority next year, but we must shore up the 5 or outright find a better option via transfer or juco. I like Davis, but the future is more physical and demanding...I'm not sure how he'll cope. mdn82 and pumpfake 2 Quote

Nothing wrong with a lineup of for 3-4min stretches.. we would be able to play extremely fast and have a post presence with Morgan and Romeo... yes, Romeo will take some college 2s in post and play 4 around 1. Morgan Hunter McRoberts Romeo Green/Phinisee Quote
