Can't count on Davis. He's our only real size. Thompson is built like Morgan. Morgan is awesome, and if he returns, which I expect, but can't count on he should be playing the 4 against most high majors. Smith is more of a 3 that can somewhat play the 4. I guess Forrester can play the 5? Maybe? He's a freshman, and thin, and doesn't have phenomenal size or strength.

So, yeah, we have a several guys that can play the 4 but no real, true center. If we were a shooting team that could hit 3s at a crazy high rate we could try to outshot teams as they pound the paint. Maybe that'll work.

Durham, Green, and Phinisee vs. Morgan, Davis, Smith, and Thompson

Which group do you feel more comfortable with?

Yeah the guards would be Phinisee, Romeo, Devonte and Durham. That’s not too much. I used to be of the mindset that IU didn’t need guards in the 2019 class. With how Devonte and Durham have played, that opinion has changed. But talking about next year, guards are more a priority than bigs

I'm hoping Damezi and Jerome can play some 2.

Vijay Blackmon.  We all seem to overlook the fact he'll be eligible next season.  I never saw many of his hs games so I can't comment on just what we might expect from him but can he give us some badly needed 3-pt. shooting?

He could maybe play in a pinch if injuries or depth issues become a problem. He isn't near the shooter though that James or Jalen are though so I don't think he would help that much with that.

I gotta ask. If bigs (as a group) aren't a concern, then at least the 5 has to be. There's no guarantee that Davis will even be ready to go in October and even if he was, his foul troubles really hinder our defense inside. I agree that guards are the priority next year, but we must shore up the 5 or outright find a better option via transfer or juco. I like Davis, but the future is more physical and demanding...I'm not sure how he'll cope.

Then who's playing the 3? I think Anderson will be Smith (ish) at best next year. Both will struggle to play on the defensive end.

Thompson, Moore, Forrester can hopefully play that role until Davis is healthy. Morgan will be there some.

Nothing wrong with a lineup of for 3-4min stretches.. we would be able to play extremely fast and have a post presence with Morgan and Romeo... yes, Romeo will take some college 2s in post and play 4 around 1.

Morgan

Hunter

McRoberts

Romeo

Green/Phinisee

This seems to get brought up from time to time but how often do you see college 2s take their man in the post? I doubt we see Romeo posting up much.

McBob.
Especially if (IF) we get Romeo and can afford to have a non-scorer playing real minutes.

I think Anderson and Hunter will struggle early defensively against quickness.
