(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

Recommended Posts

Honestly I wouldn't blame Romeo for choosing somewhere else.

Davis isn't the force we hoped he would be and Morgan still seems timid compared to what we need from him. We had hopes to be able to promise him a great front court. And it doesn't look like we can.

That being said if we lose him to Vandy. It's shady.

Yeah, if we lose him to Kansas then I won't be mad. It'll make sense, he can play for a national championship. If he goes to Vandy though... $u$piciou$.

Romeo is just stating what everyone already knows. He isn't going to say anything other than what people already know for the remainder of his recruitment until he commits to a school. I do think it is really a important 5 game stretch coming up in this recruitment though.

Right. But to me its unique in that he's commenting publicly on his communication with Garland and Garland's wishes. Like we've both said, everyone knows they're talking. He didn't really need to comment on it as specifically as he did. It's unlike his previous interviews imo. I don't think it in indicates him leaning one way or another, but I do think it shows he is feeling like he's making progress towards his decision if he's less concerned about being so close to the vest

Again, only my opinion.

Could be there was a direct question from the reporter that led to the answer? Notice there was nothing about Kansas, but there was that about Vandy and he didn’t notice the IU players there. It’s pretty obvious it was a lead in question. DG has came out in interviews and said he was doing this. I wouldn’t look too much into this answer. He was asked.

Remember we are down to 3 schools now so questions will be asked about these schools and if u mentioned Vandy when asking a question Garlands name will come up. Romeo has been involved with so many package deals in the past and has commented on them at the time. When he played in Egypt he commented on the potential of playing with reddish and Quickley, I’ve also seen interviews on potentially playing with grimes and of course Garland. In all these he made it clear no package deal and he will make individual decision. In garlands interviews from early in the summer it was clear he wanted so badly to be a package deal with other players. He has been linked to wanting to play with Reddish, Jones, Bagley and of course Romeo. After duke fell through looks like he just went down the top 10 line and picked the next available to start talking package(Shittu). Interesting recruitment still with Romeo moving forward More twist and turns ahead. Can’t wait

While I would love for Langford to commit to IU, I don't think he moves the needle that much for us next year. I still think this is a three year deal. Now if he would stay for two years, then that team sets up nicely to be in the national conversation if this year's and next year's classes stay intact. We would have talent, experience, and, hopefully, impact freshman. I think in some circumstances one and done players can slow the development of a program more than advance it.

I don't believe for a moment he goes to IU. The moment he decided to wait until spring is to avoid dealing with fan back lash. Every interview he goes out of his way to bring up Vandy. His response about IU is always the same canned response. I grew up in New Albany I can tell you IU means nothing to these kids. I hate it but it's a fact. Best for everyone to let this one go. I feel confident about our future with CAM. I know we will score some 5 stars. It just won't be Romeo.

If IU means nothing to the kids in New Albany what backlash is he worried about?

Backlash didn’t bother the previous top Indiana talent from announcing to another school before their senior year.

I’ll believe Vanderbilt when I see it. That would raise the red flag for sure

You really need to move on from this.  You're just setting yourself up for heartbreak once again.  Darius got to Romeo and he's not coming here.

I hope I'm wrong. Trust me. I apologize if I'm being negative. I just don't have a good vibe about this.

No need to apologize for your opinion. From everything I read from the Langford’s on this recruitment for the past 7 months the plan has always been to sign in the late signing period. Seems the family is sticking to the original plan

Garland didn’t break my heart. This one would hurt a lot more since Romeo is in-state. I’ll believe the top state of Indiana player picks Vanderbilt over IU when I see it

If I'm Robert Phinisee and Romeo chooses another school I think I would be passing the ball to every one except Romeo during the Indiana All Star series.

Which also begs the question, why isn’t anyone asking Romeo if any IU recruits are pitching him? Many of them were at HH too, so it’s  not like they don’t know him. Also, while they’re not top 10 players, IU has some talented kids coming in, so why know narrative about wanting to join these guys?

I wouldn't be surprised if when the final rankings are out Hunter is a 5* and Anderson and Phinisee are both unanimous top 100 guys.
