So they didn’t need 3 star Kaminsky(242), 3 star Hayes(137), and Koenig 4 star (110) to make the final 4? They needed all of those guys to make a final 4. As good as Dekker was, Wisky doesn’t make it to the final 4 without those 3 kids with a composite ranking outside the top 100 in my opinion

You're attacking a straw man; I made no such claim. Yes, of course Wisconsin needed all those guys. Five star recruits don't get you to the Final Four on their own. Ask Ben Simmons or Markelle Fultz. But I was responding to the notion that we can recruit exclusively those caliber of players and achieve satisfactory results.

Wisconsin's recruiting approach - landing players like Hayes and Koenig - allowed them to be consistently good, but never great; not until a brief window of luck when Kaminsky surprised everyone with Oladipo-like development at the same time a top ten recruit decided to stay home. Those conditions are unlikely to repeat for the Badgers with any regularity. Maybe shooting the moon like that is the most our program can hope for at this point. But I think most of the same fans holding up Wisconsin's recruiting as a model to emulate would also be disappointed if after twelve years under Archie we have only one Elite Eight appearance to show for it.

I think Wisconsin may be the best example of a program that recruits their state well and has a good balance of 3, 4, 5 star talent and likely plays within the rules and has consistent success.

IF they are the best example, what does that say for that model in today's game? 2 final 4s and 0 championships in their 16 year period of success.

It would be a telling example except there's no comparison between recruiting the state of Wisconsin and recruiting the state of indiana.

If our roster has 4 indiana 3 stars, 4 indiana 4 stars and 4 indiana 5 stars, we are going to be very very very good.

Very true, if you gave that roster to Archie I have no doubt he would do well. Only issue there is the 4 5* players. Wisconsin has usually had one on roster at all times, rarely 2, never 3 or 4 and that is the difference we are talking about.

To have 4 5* players on your roster at one time, I believe you have to get your hands dirty.

Correct. However we are talking about Wisconsin. The state probably doesn't have 4 5 stars a decade.

They aren't all from indiana but just 2 seasons ago we had 3. Not out of the realm with repaired instate relationships and indiana talent for Archie to get 1 more than fctc.

We've had at least 2 on the roster the last 5 seasons right? None this season.

Went and got tickets for that game tomorrow. Selling them at South from 9-11 AM and 3-5 PM. I got there at 8:30 and no one was there lol. I couldn’t believe it. But yeah if anyone wants to go get tickets, those are the times

You will have to take short vids if possible. Should be a good time. I hope to make it down for some of Romeo’s northern games. Curious to see how he looks after taking time off in the summer with the back issues. Mainly how his shot is and it’s repeatability.

He looked good the other night in highlights. I’ll finally have the privilege of watching him live. Gonna be crazy tomorrow night. I’ll take some video. Believe me haha

His shot wasn't falling  the other night and his exhibition I went to but it didn't look like it had to do with his back. He had good lift on his shot. He was also getting to the rim at will. His first step is insane. Sean East on their team is pretty fun to watch as well. He will get it going though and probably tomorrow night. Even his shots he missed looked good.
